Well yet again I can’t say it was easy. I’d love to be telling you all that at this point my body and legs are loving it, I feel motivated every time I run and I’m smashing my PB’s. But that’s just not true.
But once I get my butt out there, get over the first 5 minutes, then the next 5…. I feel better. My enjoyment increases, my legs find their pace right before I feel tired again. Start to think I’m not going to complete it, feel guilt that this might be the failure, until my mind throws out those thoughts and I have 5 minutes left, feeling like an old rusty steam train climbing through its last journey. Then Laura tells me it’s over! I feel elated. Within seconds my legs feel ok again. My mind starts saying “you could have run for longer.”
I get home feeling brilliant. Yet again. I’ve smashed it.
It’s such a weird journey. Onto week 9!

I’ve just finished W8R1 and I know exactly what you mean!! It’s a question of mind over matter now! Though I have to say, my partner has noticed hat I look stringer when running and when we’re out on walks, I’m much faster and stronger (in fact I’m keeping up pace with him). And the neighbours have noticed how my body shape has changed! These small things keep me going! Keep it up! I will be not far behind you!
Me too. I’ve definitely lost inches around my stomach and my wife is surprised that when she says “shall we go for a walk?” I no longer make excuses! Although she has suggested that I shave off my beard so we can see how thin my face has got…. Yeah, not happening! Well done for your journey! It’s great that we are all in this together. 😊
Thank you Poppdog. I see you are doing well too. Well done on your progress. One more week for me, but I’ll keep up with the consolidation updates too. We got this! 😊👍🏻
Omg you sound exactly like me!!! There’s so many people who fall in love with running before the end of the programme and are able to bang one out first thing in the morning - but not I - at least we’re not the only ones! Congrats on pushing through and showing up for yourself today! 🥳
Hopefully I’ll learn to love it. In fact on my rest days I do miss it. Just haven’t got to the stage when I enjoy actually doing it yet. The euphoria comes afterwards. But certainly not during! Thank you and well done on your progress! 😊👍🏻🏁
