Not according to this ... in fact for a fixed distance, walking is worse!

BBC's Dr Michael Moseley on "The Truth About... Getting Fit", shown in January this year..

It is not bad for your knees,, my Consultant said, when he examined the MRI results on my knees and legs..and I quote... " You have great legs.!!! Keep doing whatever you are doing..." Good enough for me!
