Thank you for, telling me about this Pm3eak : The Truth About Getting Fit, BBC1 at 8 tonight.
Apparently we get high on running because it releases endo cannadinoids in the brain; in other words the same as smoking cannabis. Who knew! Still doesnt explain the addiction to lycra though π (check the tag on this post ... teehee)

Flick as you and I well know, lycra is physiologically close to cannabis!
But I'm addicted to one and not the other, so if whenI run it releases cannabinoids, then that means I can buy lycra with gay abandon.
Running tomorrow - maybe shopping afterwards!

Do you think they might make lycra illegal then??? π³
Maybe thatβs why I only dipped breifly into smoking cannabis in the 60s, I was already riding, running, cycling, walking ... absolutely no need or inclination for anything else π
I for one am high on running. π Funny, was just thinking today that I have really noticed how much calmer I feel all day after my morning run. Totally chill. π
Just watched this programme, too. Joyful to hear that running is actually good for the knees - for I am very tired of people telling me that I would ruin my knees by running (and then not being able to back it up!)
My GP told me all that in week 2, when I checked with her that it wasn't going to hurt my damaged knee - she said it was the best thing for it and that the endorphins from running were second to none.. I think some physios and medical people still think it's bad for you though. I get twinges in my knee walking sometimes, but never yet with running. xxx
This makes a lot of sense, why else would we drag ourselves out to run on "tender" legs in horizontal freezing rain when the sensible thing to do would be to put them up infront of the gogglebox with nice mug of tea?!
When I go running on the cycle path, I notice there are quite a lot of people there who go for a smoke down by the river and I frequently run through fragrant clouds. I've often wondered if I come back feeling relaxed and happy (and STARVING!) from the run or from what I am inadvertently inhaling...
