Yes , I’ve got bored with my playlists again, and so fellow retro runners, I thought we could manage a ‘boy band’ playlist.
Decades are immaterial - just the best of the boy bands, as ever the editor’s choice is final. But as an 80s bird, my knowledge of boy bands is limited, given the attraction seems to be linked to adolescent hormones, (although I am partial to Harry Styles)
Please, if you are choosing groups like 911 - would you tell me your favourite track, to give me a chance in compilation.
I am not going to discriminate here, if you think The Beatles counted as a boy band, then that’s fine. Cheesiness is also fine my favourites include The Rubettes, Bay City Rollers, and Slik!
I’ll post them under my Spotify profile Jancanrun and subtitled Retro Runners and will do a final listing in the next couple of weeks.
Mummycav and Razouski I have high hopes of you both!
If you pardon the pun, this one may run and run...
Tasha I like all of these, but I think they’re not quite boy band adolescent enough. Having said that - I think we have can have a second playlist of the 'nearly boy bands’. Just give me some slack to get the first one done. Currently at 27 tracks and growing!
No intruder policies here... all retro runners are welcome. Even Mr JCR admits BCR and Bye Bye Baby is a classic - well he was seen singing along on Hogmanay in Edinburgh when they were playing!
Paul da Vinci (who sand the lead on that with the amazing falsetto) wasn't actually ever part of the band. He decided to pursue a solo career which went precisely nowhere. It is a fantastic record tho.... xx
I wait with bated breath to see what else comes out then... I love the Beach Boys but hadn’t really defined them as a boy band, but of course they were really... Okay this lot are going on! This is going to be a fun one...
California Dreaming. Sail on Sailor. More beautiful than any pop music has the right to be. Secretly I'd rate the Beach Boys over The Beatles or The Rolling Stones any day...
Okay I think these are a bit older than ‘boys’ but I love them all, I think I am going to do a ‘nearly boy band’ playlist and these will go on there...
sorry....I can’t help it, I run out of music....it’s all these blinking kms I’m running. My trainers and playlists are wearing out, especially as shuffle doesn’t seem to shuffle some of the rarer tracks..
I also like bad manners - lip up fatty ....that is on one of my playlists & remember it played on one of my early running days & made me laugh!! Just when I was thinking of stopping!!
I think it is somewhat loose - for me it means the teenybopper bands aimed specifically at teenage girls screaming and crying. Teenybopper _ I think that word disappeared decades ago!
In a way l think l may be qualified to suggest an alternative option to a standard playlist. If you really prefer a tight kick when running them maybe you should try Du Hast by Rammstein on a continuous loop! It will prompt you to run faster and more vigorously, hence working the cardio to a higher level. Just a thought
I am sometimes frightened by your music choices - still it spurs you onto greater distances than me, so maybe worth a go! Even the artwork for it, is scary...
Haha, they are not bad people! They influenced Marilyn Manson so can't be that scary. And it's all one big show.
Today l exposed my gentle side by listening to Johnny Cash who for over an hour sang about poverty, loss, loneliness and a guy who ended up on the electric chair. See! I can also go soft!
I listened to it... yup it would frighten me to greater efforts I think.... Okay soft and squishy playlist may also be necessary... but stores about an electric chair - see thats scary too!
Thanks Jan , sorry I may have confused you. King is the name of the song and Years and Years are the band , but Love and Pride is a top choon anyway , so I am happy with that xxx
Okay - these are going to have to go on the ‘nearly boy band’ list because even in their heyday they didn’t aim at teenyboppers, but nice choices anyway. I think the ‘nearly’playlist will be as much fun as the boy band one....
On the radio I just heard ‘Float On’ by the Floaters
Marvellous cheese!

I love that cheesy tune but am thinking we may need a “cheese” playlist, as I can’t recall them having screaming teenage girls as fans? Anyway I agree I love the song pure formaggio
