Taking it slowly from Week 8

I became determined to get fit about two months ago, and started this amazing C25k journey, as well as hitting the gym on my rest days to help with building muscles. Since Week 7 I notice things start to not go so well, it seems I might be overdoing things. Did W8R1 the other day and felt great but the niggle in my right knee won't quite go away and my lower back always hurt the day after running or weightlifting at the gym despite all the posture check, long stretches and hot/cold showers.

This is most probably because I have never really exercised or been on a training program seriously and so my body is taking longer to learn to cope with it all. So instead of alternating my exercises, I am now alternating exercises and rest days. This means I will be running only twice a week, rather than the supposed 3 times, and hope more rest will help with building my body properly.

If you haven’t already get your gait checked and buy some running shoes. Otherwise listen to Laura and keep it slow. By the way she’s wrong about landing with your heal. Check it out on this site. Either way hope things improve- you’ll get there.

Hi . Yesterday I finally finished my couch to 5k+ stamina. It felt good to get it under my belt. Checked how far I ran just over 4 km or 2.49 miles. Pleased with myself. I won’t lie, it was hard, and today I’m aching my poor legs, but so worth it. 😊
