I’m facing r3wk5 and the jump from 8 - 20 mins seems daunting. How did others find it?

Hi Jlonomore, it is a wonderful run. As Iannodatruffe said it is not really a jump and you can perfectly do it. I guess many of us were scared because of the “apparent” jump and ended up really enjoying it! 😊💪🎉🎊

The thing to remember is that you aren’t a failure if you don’t manage first time. That’s why the programme has a repeat facility, because not everyone will do everything first time. Have a go. Chances are you’ll smash it. But if not, take some time on your rest day to reflect on how to get a bit further. Were you properly rested/fed/hydrated ? Was it your usual track/treadmill setting ? How was the weather/heat ? Etc. Change what you can and have another go. And another if you need. And so on. The only way to fail a run is not to go. It took me nine weeks to conquer week 1, so I know what I’m talking about ! Happy running x

It was possibly my favourite run of C25K, that’s how I found it! The sense of achievement was immense and I know many others have felt the same way.

Honestly, it looks more daunting than it is. Just remain slow and steady and you’ll be totally fine. It’s especially important not to go out too fast.

Enjoy it, and good luck! 👍😀

Don't worry too much. I was freaked by that at the time but surprised myself by doing it quite easily. You have been building up the stamina to get there without realising it. Good music helped me through and a steady pace. I focused on reaching halfway goal and by then I'd got over the worst - coach Jos interjections wee well timed. . I'm on week 8 now and that 20 minutes run was the biggest high yet . Good luck and I know you'll do it 😊

It’s incredible. After the first 3-4 minutes and get into a rythm it passes fairly quickly. No idea how it works!! As most folk 5 weeks ago I couldn’t do a minute!! Slow and easy. Don’t think about it 👌

It works cos the preceding 14 runs have prepared you for it. The 16 minutes of running in each Week 4 session are crucial IMO.

Lots fear it... but it’s just a test of the mind. The body is ready, it’s a shorter workout than the one you just did, and so all that remains is the brain bits ie keeping the pace down, maybe pushing yourself to the end. It’s a great run in a great week... you can do it.

errr..... I think you mean 16* mins to 20 minutes ;-)

*Look closely

PS Week 4 is a MUCH bigger jump from Week 3 :-)

Take it slow and steady. Believe you are ready cos you are. Have a great playlist that will keep you going on the second half. Pick a good route and prepare to be amazed. You can do this!

It’s a mental hurdle rather than physical. Take it slow and steady, you’ll be able to do it. I honestly didn’t believe I could do it, but I did! Good luck, and let us know how you do
