Hello friends. Help!

I am aware of even long-term runners having an occasional bad run but has anyone had a bad week? Having had not too many bad runs getting to graduation & managing 3 runs a week (apart from on holiday) this week has been dreadful. Tuesday I had to give up after 10 mins & last night I had only managed about 28 mins & had to stop briefly a couple of times. Whilst I expected going further to be hard of course did not expect to struggle so much with distances/times already done many times. A little disheartened.😧

Hello Suse70, your scenario is not unique it happens to most runners. You can run the same course and fly round it and another time on the same course you struggle. Don’t get disheartened, keep going you are doing so well, give yourself a real pat on the back and think positive thoughts.

Aw, thank you. I think that's just what I needed to hear. I have been giving myself such a hard time, seeing it as a bit of a failure. I will try and remember how far I've come and stay positive as you suggest. Thanks for your encouragement!😁

It does happen...and the reasons could be many. A virus... lack of sleep... a stressful event.

But... the things is, the runs remain... and you will feel like running them.

Time maybe, to relax.. change the routes... shake things up a tad. Short routes.. a 5K here and there ( no time constraint)...and a lovely, longer, slow and steady, see where I get to run...:)

You have come a long way... be proud and be kind to yourself... just relax, run and enjoy :)

Thanks Oldfloss. Yes, mixing it up & not putting pressure on myself is sage advice! I do need to remind myself that I have done well & there is no pressure to go further, faster except that which I put on myself. Will chill & take it easy. Just keep running. Thank you.πŸ‘πŸ˜

Welcome:)

And...you will find that, the more runs you do, short, long or whatever, mean that distance and speed do evolve.. almost unnoticed...:)

Well that's two 25 minute runs now after w6r3 and that second one sounds dramatic. Take a day or two rest unless your really motivated to go out and get your revenge!! But either way keep it slow and steady, you're doing great!

Don't get despondent Suse your in great shape. Sometimes you need a change of routine to freshen things up, some shorter runs perhaps but you don't say what you've been doing. Do you know that it's advisable to take a weeks break occasionaly when your on a long distance training plan? Body needs a reset occasionally. It's just a blip, you're doing great

Thanks Steve, I really appreciate your advice & encouragement. I have been concentrating on trying to run for longer/further so I should probably try mixing it up a bit. I suppose the most important thing is to keep doing it, one way or another! Good luck with your running too.πŸ‘πŸ˜
