I’ve not run since last wed due to being away for the wkend and that was R2 of W4, back on it tonight and thought I’d be a bit lazy and use the treadmill, I had to stop after the first 5min run as my calves were so sore so ran outside for 2nd half, really struggled with last 5min run and when I finished to cool down the cramps in my calves were agony, any ideas why or how to prevent it? I maybe didn’t drink enough, didn’t take a drink with me or really have anything before I started. Starting w5 on Thursday with a feeling of apprehension now 🙈🙆🏼♀️

Hydration is essential for the muscles... sipping water all day every day is the way to do it. If you need water on a half hour running session then hydration wasn’t right beforehand, though some do carry it, it’s not really needed until running beyond 5k.
