Thank you

Hi, I saw you’ve been posting a lot about your ankle, I hope it heals and stops hurting you soon.

Somebody suggested physio, did you manage to arrange an appointment? It’s frustrating this is stopping you after you graduated 😔

It’s good that you are able to cycle pain free, Some forms of exercise are easier on the joints.

If you do end up missing running, I would say take at least a weeks break, and start building up again, maybe running shorter distances and slower?

Good luck for your future

As a cyclist since the age of 7 and only a runner since late 71, I graduated🎓 in June this year 3 weeks after my 72nd birthday, I can fully understand the difference between running and cycling. You tire much quicker when running even at a slow pace than cycling, however, cycling can be very tiring as well if you put the pace on and cycle up hills. I do enjoy my new found sport of running but for now I will not be running for longer than on average 35 minutes which is my time for a 5K although I ran🏃 it in just 😊just over 32 minutes according to Mapmyrun on my second attempt at that distance. 😊🏃I wish you Garden 17 with your bike rides all the best but if you want to continue with the runs, keep them short, if nothing else they are a good exercise for you. 🏃😊

Awww Garden we’ll miss you. But it sounds like you’ve made the right decision for your personal circumstances, and if bike riding is more appropriate, well that’s what you must pursue.

Wonder if you’ll discover a friendly biking forum?

All the very best to you, and remember how fabulous you were whilst you were running too. 👏👏

You have to do what’s best for you. Not the end, just a different journey. I wish you well👍🏻

I think the main aim of C25K is to get people to be active more often. You’re doing that, just in a different way. Enjoy your cycling and wave to the joggers as you zoom past!

You have had some real issues.. so maybe this is the best choice:) Cycling is great fun... :)

As March hare says, the main thing is to get active, and the benefits that brings. Thankfully, we are all different - so find your own way. Keep on pedallin'!

You're being active: that's the main thing! Running isn't for everyone, but being active and keeping moving is often a difficult thing to 'fit in' around the busy lives we lead, but it is important. If cycling suits you better then go for it!

I’m sorry it has come to this for you. I know very occasionally it does happen which is why I asked Healthunlocked for a sister site. Please feel free to come on over, they are mainly walkers of all abilities but we are a friendly bunch and our main aim is to support each other to keep active.
