W1R1 ... I kept calm and carried on ... Happy Days ahead

Hello everyone,

After I posted my photo and post this morning I have now downloaded the 9 Podcasts, connected my Bluetooth earpieces and walked to a very popular park a few minutes from where I live.

I watched Laura's NHS video and chose her to be my guide and mentor over the next 9 weeks. Her soft encouraging voice resonated with me and from the moment I turned the app on I started to smile as I came across dog walkers, experienced joggers and a few cyclists. The music in the background was superb and I loved the jiggy boppy and feelgood beats which instinctively made me feel really happy inside.

Laura told me when to walk at a fast pace then she talked me through the 90 second walks and by the time I did the final walk I was ready to 'Sally forth' and just went for it.

When she said 'Are you ready for your final run? Go!'. I started on very slow running then by the time I was on the last run I was literally on a high, the adrenalin was kicking in, I felt happy, calm, relaxed and so driven to carry on with this programme that on the last run when Laura said 'Go' off I went and was going at a gentle jog and almost running properly. I didn't want to push it.

So have already decided to plan ahead for my next two runs to be on Weds and Friday (or Fri-yey!). That will be Week 1 completed before I go on to Week 2.

Thank you Laura and a great big thank you to all you great guys and gals out there who have written such awesome posts that I just could not put it off any longer.

Keep writing such great inspirational posts and will be following a lot of you before long.

Great job... that’s the hardest run done. Sounds like you enjoyed it too, always a big plus.

Well done - you've done the hardest thing - getting out of the door for the first time!

I find planning the days I am running and putting them in my diary really helpful.
