Hi all,

Thanks for letting me join this forum. I am 64 and new to running. At present I am W4R2 and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on the best running trainers please.c

I think everybody would recommend you go to a specialist running shop and get a gait analysis done. They will then be able to recommend the right shoes for you. Everybody is different so this is the best way to get the right shoes for you.

Oh and by the way, you absolutely must post a picture of your new shoes for us all to drool over!

I totally agree with getting your gait checked. I graduated in my old running shoes with no problem but then after running a little faster and longer have had a real problem with pain on the top on my foot. I have now bought my new shoes (I will post a picture!) having had my gait anaylised. Still having to rest more at the moment though. 😢😢😢

You're right to consider new shoes, it gets more important as the runs get longer. Nobody in here can recommend a pair, though, because the fit and the level of support required will be different for everyone, which is why going to a decent shop and trying them on is the only way. A knowledgeable salesperson would be able to guide you without a gait analysis if it's not offered near you.
