Post Grad Plans - is anyone planning that far ahead?

I'm in week 8 and really looking forward to graduating next week (all being well!).

And there's loads that I'm looking forward to...

- Running without headphones (sorry Laura, you've been great, but I feel like one of my senses is missing the outdoor experience).

- Doing new routes - on the basis that if it ain't broke don't try fix it, I've been religiously sticking to my route, I'll be ready to try some new places and have been researching them on my non-running days. A local OS map has proved really useful.

- Taking running on holiday with me, half-term in Cornwall coming up, so my consolidation runs will be along the coast - can't wait to do that!

Anyone else developing post-grad plans???

I have a target 5k time to keep me busy for the next 9 months, I set that before I started week one. I also have a marathon ambition and the one I want is September and so I will aim to get that done in 2020... I haven’t planned past that yet, I don’t like to feel too organised!

Wow … I have a great respect for people who run marathons, but I'm not sure that that's for me, it's got to be such a huge time commitment!! I'll plan out to Christmas, with the aim to get to 10k (using +10% rule - I've been reading up!) and then see where that takes me.

There’s an excellent plan to 10k on here... join Bridge to 10k and you should get there pretty soon... tried and tested by many C25K grads.

Thanks (again!) … to be honest, I joined the Bridge to 10k group at the same time as I joined the C25K group - setting out my ambitions from early on I guess!

My post grad plan? Same as you Climber, I want to get to 10k by Christmas (hate to use that word before December)

I've joined the Bridge to 10k Forum just to get acquainted.

I really want to keep the momentum going then who knows?! Just really want to stay off the IC 🏃🏽‍♀️👍🏼

Enjoy your new found fitness and keep going.

I graduated last Oct and have now ran numerous 10k races and two half marathons! You’ll be amazed at how you progress!

Good luck and happy running!!

🏃‍♂️😁

Thanks! 10k is definitely my next target, although I'm not sure about racing, I don't feel that's in my psyche. I will probably try a parkrun, as they seem to be highly recommended, but I am worried that I'll be easily be tempted into running faster than my body really wants (and I have injury paranoia!).

Im currently injured only week one, but feel anxious about getting back on the road in a few weeks, so totally understand that!

I joined a local running club now I’m more competitive!!! 😬😀

Good luck with your next challenge!

I’m on Week 5 and provided I graduate as plan on November, I would like to spend a month or so running 5k 3x a week and working on my speed.

Hopefully, next year I’ll be looking to download the app for the 10k and start training for that.

I suspect that the consolidation weeks are quite important. And maybe a little bit scary - we'll be "flying solo" without Laura to offer her advice/encouragement!

Definitely give Parkrun a go. It’s amazing. Just run your first one at your normal pace. Don’t try to go any faster. Once you cross the line you will have a PB time. Each week you go back to Parkrun you can try and beat your previous PB time. There is a great sense of achievement by breaking your PB time by just 10 seconds.

It’s also a great way to meet people and it’s a nice way to kick off a weekend.
