Oh wow that was exhilarating. π The rain wasnβt as heavy as the forecast promised, but it was still quite wet and chilly nonetheless. Perfect conditions to knock 1.16 off last weekβs official time! I did it today in 37.02, Iβm super pleased, and again my dog was a star. π
I overcame the wet phone risk by wrapping it in cling film (luckily I could still use the touch screen!) and popped it in my arm holder. Iβm happy I didnβt wear long sleeves as I would have roasted for sure!
Already canβt wait for next weekend. The killer hill is gradually feeling easier. Itβs funny looking at my MMR stats - the km with the hill always sticks out like a sore thumb! π π
I hope everyone else has good parkruns or C25K runs today and donβt get too soaked. Arenβt we all brilliant? β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈπββοΈπββοΈππππ

I did think we must be bonkers when I got out the car into the rain! But then I realised I wasn't the only bonkers one..300+ more were out with me at Kingsbury Waterpark!
I guess we're real runners now Cheeky!! ππββοΈπββοΈπ§οΈπ§οΈππ #loveparkrun
Oh yes GN we certainly are! If someone had told me Iβd be doing this running malarkey back in June Iβd have laughed in their face! πββοΈπ πββοΈ
Brilliant Cheeky! Fantastic time - and with the dog!!! he must be fantastically well behaved π thatβs two park runs heβs been an absolute dream- with all those exciting distractions too π That is a genius idea with the cling film, Iβm loving that β€οΈ great tip π₯ great run π₯
Aww thanks TS! My dog (she, btw! π ) is a dream. The easiest Lab weβve ever had and she is impeccable trotting alongside some. β€οΈπ Iβm sure she helps me up the hill too!! π
Yes, the cling film idea came to me last night. I wanted my phone for my personal stats and knew there was no way I could wear a jacket, so I had to think of something. π The fact I could still use the touchscreen was a bonus!
Haha! I sometimes wish we were a bit flatter round here. There are 3 parkruns I could choose from and one in particular is in the top 10 hilliest! Iβm leaving that one for a bit longer! πββοΈ
Congratulations Cheeky, sounds like you had a great run with your faithful canine friend! πββοΈπΆ
I wore a pair gloves for the first time at Parkrun this week, but luckily they were the sort where I could still use the Strava app on the phone without taking my gloves off. Itβs certainly getting colder out there π³
Now itβs even more important to warm up before the run! π
Absolutely agree David! I jogged up the path before the briefings. Itβs not often Iβll voluntarily jog uphill, but it was quite chilly! I need a pair of those phone-friendly gloves. Thanks for reminding me! ππ
Thanks TC, Iβm loving it! The dodgy thwacked toe I had has healed and the resulting PF has gone too (touch wood!) Nice to be pain free again. ππ
Fantastic well done! π. I love your dog πΆ However at my last park run there was a spaniel and a lurched both making it look far too easy!! π€£ππ
That's a fantastic parkrun, sounds like you both had a great time and well done on the PB as well, awesome!!ππ
I planned to go but finished night shifts yesterday and my body didn't respond to getting up in time which is a shame as I won't get to go for a few weeks now π
Thank you UNM! Iβve just calculated Iβve shaved just over 6 minutes off my first attempt at 5k, so Iβm really pleased! How are you enjoying your post grad runs? ππ
Only done one! I did my track thing and then I decided to give myself the weekend off and take advantage of little miss UNM being at her grandads. So I marshalled parkrun and Iβm off to do the same at juniors soon... but apart from that Iβve done nothing! Iβm gonna start consolidation runs tomorrow. I did feel that I should be running yesterday but Iβm also feeling pretty refreshed and ready to go tomorrow.
I saw the weather forecast and (being a wimp and rain--hater) decided to run on Friday evening instead. Shame, cos i enjoyed my first Parkrun a week ago, but it was my own choice. The run felt hard work - then i realised at the end it was faster than expected or intended. Odd how that works...
Isnβt it funny how runs work out sometimes? My 4k run on Thursday felt such hard work and I was dreading peeking at my stats. But like you, they were my best yet! I suppose weβre getting more bang for our buck, as weβre working as hard, but since weβre fitter weβre getting better results. π
Yeah. Even though I was actually trying to slow down cos I was breathing so hard, it seems I didn't manage to ! If I had realised it was the anniversary of Parkrun I *might* have steeled myself to brave the rain - but not after running on Friday evening!
Hi CC I managed a 6.7k run today through the beautiful welsh π΄σ §σ ’σ ·σ ¬σ ³σ Ώ countryside with a lovely river running next to the path. I was running to scope out where the local parkrun starts, and if itβs possible to delay check out on Saturday I may be able to do a tourist parkrun before my drive home π
