I’m thinking the same thing, i’ve Had the pleasure of early mornings runs in the sun these last few weeks, back to grey old Blighty next week. I don’t much like dark, cold, wet mornings at the best of times, not sure I’m going to find the enthusiasm to run in them. We have an old step machine at home, would that work instead of a treadmill?

Mm I was gonna run today early but the weather is throwing it down I love the fresh air just coming back soaking wet and dripping wet is not for me lol and I hate the dark loads of funny people about and I don't mean jolly either lol

Whatever turns you on. From a running perspective it does the basic physical stuff, although my boredom threshold is far too low to allow me to use a dread mill.

Set it on an incline of at least one degree.

What ever works for you dolcie. For me, it’s outside every time despite the weather.

I use a treadmill. I don't get bored but then I am usually planning lessons in my head. I hate the cold and being wet and so if I have a treadmill I don't have an excuse not to run.

My treadmill is a cheap one I got off gumtree.

I'd say try one first before committing. I ran on one exactly once and hated it so much that rain and darkness were suddenly quite appealing 😅 I'm glad I found that out before actually buying one ! I invested in a headtorch instead 😂

I think that, like others here, I have a fairly low boredom threshold, but do whatever floats your boat 😉

Running is running. For as long as your cardio is active and the legs are doing their ‘one-two, one-two’ thing, you’re doing a job. I could run on the machine only under duress or some serious misfortune, and have been outside for all my runs in literary all weather conditions except when the ground was laced with black ice. Regardless of what your brain is telling you, your heart and lungs absolutely love the outdoors. And as for the weather? No such thing as good or bad, it just is. We tend to over complicate by analysing it.

I am doing the run completely on a treadmill as I have weak ankles and a fear of turning them ( again) after a couple of serious sprains and a snapped Achilles. I don't find it boring at all, in fact it's almost meditative for me. If I didn't have the treadmill I wouldn't be running so it's all good from my point of view. That's not to say that I won't run outside, can't wait to give it a go, but want to be more confident before I do. As mrrun above says, running is running!

Ye I agree just don't fancy getting soaking wet through and wet feet done it a couple of times and ended up fluey lol and I find running the same track a bit boring to be fair but I like to run in safe roads etc which in the dark am not to sure

I had a gym induction last week just for use of the treadmill. I an handle drizzle but not propper rain. I would prefer to run outside but If it's miserable there are no excuses I can now still run.

I bought a second hand one which is big and solid - and I'm really glad I didn't go for a new one which would have had to be smaller/lesser quality.

Last winter I was delighted I had it as I was coming back from injury with short controlled runs. BUT I find it mindlessly boring and really miss the effect of the fresh air on your skin as you run along (I always end up a horrible sweaty mess). I'm sure I will use it again, but my preference will always be to run outside if I can. Rain really isn't an issue!

I had never used a treadmill before so had no idea what to look for. It was my son who advised me to get the one I did, primarily on the basis of the size of the deck. I now see he was absolutely right - I would really struggle with some of the small decks I had been looking at. On a long run you really need the freedom to move naturally and not be constrained, especially when it is SO BORING :D

I haven’t got room for a treadmill and no intention of going or joining a gym. Just gonna brave the elements
