Never been so proud ....... πŸ˜€

I shaved 1.27 off my 5k PB at parkrun yesterday! My official time was 38.18, but I started at the back with my dog, so that’s fine.

I loved Every. Single. Minute.

I found myself actually overtaking people. What?? I felt like I had to ask myself permission first, it’s such a rare event, but I passed loads! I was leapfrogging some people, as they kept walking, then running again. I kept running. I even felt better on the hills. πŸ’ͺ I was also thrilled with my recovery. Almost instantaneous.

My dog was a superstar. She trotted happily along smiling at everyone (Labrador), didn’t get in anyone’s way and she’s now going to be a fixture at parkrun. My buddy. β€οΈπŸ•πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Oh wow, I LOVE running! And this weather .... β€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ‚β˜€οΈπŸ˜€β€οΈ

Have a lovely Sunday, whether running or resting!

Well done! It's great you had such a good run and a pb too!

Thank you sunshinefish! I was thinking about it all day yesterday - and I was singing in two concerts with my choir and had my husband’s rowing club’s annual dinner last night too! My mind wasn’t on either really. Just relived my run! (Saddo!) πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

I still keep grinning to myself! πŸ˜€

Fantastic! I know what you mean about overtaking people, it's such a rare thing for me that I always feel I have to apologise. Your dog sounds lovely too.

Wow cheeky that’s an awesome result chopping a massive 1.27 off your PB and after starting at the back as well. so it was a double PB for you and your running buddy πŸ• you both did excellent and more importantly you really enjoyed it. Here’s to you and loads more lovely parkruns πŸΎπŸΎπŸΎπŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸŒŸ

Thank you Runsome! Yes I was especially surprised having started at the back again! My dog must have spurred me on - or even pulled me up the hills!

I’m looking forward to next Saturday already! πŸ˜…

Thanks CR! My snail is still with me. I used him on the long uphill drag. I’ll still be calling on him for help as I strive for 10k, that’s for sure! ❀️🐌❀️

Wonderful, and all splits sub 8 minutes - great pace management πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸ‘

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate in reply to telford_mike

Thanks Mike! Actually there was one over 8 minutes (the 4th kilometer one which had the big hill!), and there was one under 7 minutes which I’ve never done before. But yes, I am getting more consistent!

W e l l d o n e !!!!!! Both of you champs 😁 You sound SOOO happy, i'm happy for you. And record time. What a feeling to start overtaking people.. getting stronger. I still fear the inclined bits.. i am trying to tackle them head on. But it looks like your hard work is paying off big time cheeky!!!!!!!

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate in reply to Mayanow

Thank you sooo much Mayanow! It really was awesome and the feeling that I wasn’t struggling so much up the hills was fabulous. Still had to slow right down, but my breathing returned to normal much quicker than before!

I absolutely can’t wait to do it all again next week!

You keep at working on hills - it makes the rest of your running seem so much easier as a reward! πŸ˜€πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Mayanow profile image
Mayanow in reply to cheekychipmunks

Oh wow. Regaining your breathing faster... what a reward!

Yes exactly- that will happen and i will be soooo happy! i realized it's a stupid fear so now on each run i try the uphill. One day i will do it elegantly! 😁

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate in reply to Mayanow

One day I’ll do it elegantly, yesterday wasn’t that day, but it felt so much better than the last two parkruns I did!

One day I will love hills I hope, and so will you! πŸ˜€πŸ‘

Fantastic. There must have been ideal conditions as my other half has been trying to go sub 30 minutes for 4 months on Parkrun and smashed it going nearly under 29 minutes!

Now she wants to slow down and do 10k runs! 😸
