I shaved 1.27 off my 5k PB at parkrun yesterday! My official time was 38.18, but I started at the back with my dog, so thatβs fine.
I loved Every. Single. Minute.
I found myself actually overtaking people. What?? I felt like I had to ask myself permission first, itβs such a rare event, but I passed loads! I was leapfrogging some people, as they kept walking, then running again. I kept running. I even felt better on the hills. πͺ I was also thrilled with my recovery. Almost instantaneous.
My dog was a superstar. She trotted happily along smiling at everyone (Labrador), didnβt get in anyoneβs way and sheβs now going to be a fixture at parkrun. My buddy. β€οΈππββοΈ
Oh wow, I LOVE running! And this weather .... β€οΈπββοΈπβοΈπβ€οΈ

Thank you sunshinefish! I was thinking about it all day yesterday - and I was singing in two concerts with my choir and had my husbandβs rowing clubβs annual dinner last night too! My mind wasnβt on either really. Just relived my run! (Saddo!) πββοΈ
Fantastic! I know what you mean about overtaking people, it's such a rare thing for me that I always feel I have to apologise. Your dog sounds lovely too.
Thank you Lil! It gave me an added boost whenever I passed someone. It felt βalmostβ effortless doing so too! And I know what you mean about feeling you need to apologise! π
Haha, maybe not the slowest of the slow snails, but maybe one running for a bus or something! π π π And yes Iβll endeavour to leap some more next week! πΈ
Thanks Marcia! Parkrun is amazing. Like this forum, but in real life! Youβll love it! πππββοΈ
Well done cheeky! Thatβs brilliant, it sounds like you had so much fun! Iβm really looking forward to running a Park Run after graduation they look fantastic... people power! Great run πββοΈ
Wow cheeky thatβs an awesome result chopping a massive 1.27 off your PB and after starting at the back as well. so it was a double PB for you and your running buddy π you both did excellent and more importantly you really enjoyed it. Hereβs to you and loads more lovely parkruns πΎπΎπΎπππ
Thanks Unfit - yes pooch had her tail wagging all the way round. No sniffing (helps sheβs a girl!), no calls of nature, just trotted along being greeted by each Marshall! Fabulous! ππβ€οΈ
Well done cheeky- great result if I was you I wd be grinning too!! Sounds like you're leaving the π community and moving onwards and upwards to the πΈ- looking forward to joining you there one day tooππββοΈππ½xx
Thanks CR! My snail is still with me. I used him on the long uphill drag. Iβll still be calling on him for help as I strive for 10k, thatβs for sure! β€οΈπβ€οΈ
Thanks Mike! Actually there was one over 8 minutes (the 4th kilometer one which had the big hill!), and there was one under 7 minutes which Iβve never done before. But yes, I am getting more consistent!
W e l l d o n e !!!!!! Both of you champs π You sound SOOO happy, i'm happy for you. And record time. What a feeling to start overtaking people.. getting stronger. I still fear the inclined bits.. i am trying to tackle them head on. But it looks like your hard work is paying off big time cheeky!!!!!!!
Thank you sooo much Mayanow! It really was awesome and the feeling that I wasnβt struggling so much up the hills was fabulous. Still had to slow right down, but my breathing returned to normal much quicker than before!
I absolutely canβt wait to do it all again next week!
You keep at working on hills - it makes the rest of your running seem so much easier as a reward! ππββοΈ
Oh wow. Regaining your breathing faster... what a reward!
Yes exactly- that will happen and i will be soooo happy! i realized it's a stupid fear so now on each run i try the uphill. One day i will do it elegantly! π
Thanks Schofield, oh yes you really should do parkrun. Itβs the real life version of this forum - everyoneβs so friendly and thereβs no pressure. Good luck! π
Fantastic. There must have been ideal conditions as my other half has been trying to go sub 30 minutes for 4 months on Parkrun and smashed it going nearly under 29 minutes!
Well done your OH! Yes, I think there were quite a few PBs out there yesterday, the weather couldnβt have been more perfect. Long may it remain! π
Thanks so much Sandi! It was thrilling I must say. Really felt I had settled into my groove and having my buddy trotting along with me was priceless! β€οΈππββοΈπ
