Is anyone else starting on a treadmill? I’ve just finished week 3 and feeling good going into week 4. Taking it slow as my right knee still playing up but I’m getting through it. If you are what speed are you running at ??

Lots do this on the treadmill. The pace you need to do is the comfortable pace for you... if you’re running and can hold a conversation that’s a good pace. Don’t try and use someone else’s, and don’t think you’re slow if someone is faster... the only race we ever do is with ourselves. Great job so far... enjoy week 4.

I completed this solely on a treadmill as I found it easier to keep my pace steady. It doesnt suit everyone but this is your run not anyone elses 😁

I'm using a treadmill as I'm still recovering from a broken ankle/leg.

I've just finished week 2 so a little behind you but understand the knee pain (due to having an IM nail inserted and removed through my knee!) So was told a treadmill is the more gentle way to run with damaged joints.

Speed wise it is just best to run at the pace you feel comfortable. Also speed from treadmill to treadmill will vary so what 1 person runs at will be different to you, also we all have different stride lengths too!! My little legs will def run at a different speed to someone over 6ft ;)

Good Luck with the Knee I find an Ice Pack is my best friend still when mine plays up :)

Hi

I do most of my runs on the treadmill because of dodgy knees. I did an outdoor one and ended up quite far from home and had to limp home. I stopped beating myself up about it, I graduated and was running for the 30 mins. I tried to speed up and began having trouble with the other knee so haven’t run for 2 weeks, I took the advice to rest/ice the knee so back on it next week... on the treadmill. Do the best you can do at your own pace would be my advice & well done for getting this far :)

Hi, like others have already, don’t beat yourself up about your time; it’s your challenge, not anybody else’s. I completed the whole programme on a treadmill and continue to do so, partly because I believe it’s less pressure on the knees but also because running outside locally is not a convenient option. Good luck and do what feels right for you 🙂.

Thanks for all your comments, I’ll continue to take it slow as it’s the second time I’ve started Cto5K as first time I tried to speed up and it set me back due to long recovery time. Hoping to build up to a 10K next summer

Hi Eralar, yup also running solely on a treadmill, always struggled when tried running outside! I've slowed down from 5kmph walk/8kmph run in W1 and W2, to 4.5/7.5 for W3, pacing myself for the upcoming longer runs. W4R1 starts Tuesday, all the best of luck :-)

am on w7r1 and so far done it all on tredmill i run at 5 mph which is 8.1kph i think that is an average speed but do what speed you are comfy at its not about speed just getting you to run for 30 mins which is good just trust the program it works and hasthey always say slow and steady am finding it easy but like you not been outside yet

Managing the walk at 6.5kph and run at 7.2kph. Not much difference I know but the knees niggle for now above 7.2. Once I’m running for 30 mun straight I’ll slowely increase the speed before moving to longer distances
