W5R2 - Mental Block

I did it! Two 8 minute runs. It's weird because I found it difficult and then in the last minute I found it easy and went faster. It just goes to show that so much of my energy was used to mentally hinder myself. I need to shed that mindset for Friday because it's the big 20 minute run!

Well done 😀 to you Zee221b, looks as if you have enjoyed your run this morning. I reran W5R2 this morning after the heavy rain went off and before the 80mph gusts from Storm Ali hit the area of Central Scotland where I live, in fact the highest wind gust of 91 mph was recorded on the now closed Tay Road Bridge near Dundee, all the trains are off and many roads and motorways have been closed because of fallen trees.

That's intense! It's pretty windy here in London but nothing we can't handle. I run indoors anyway so it doesn't affect me much although I do want to go on outdoor runs in the future!

Yes, there’s nothing more efficient at ruining a run than the runners mind! Great job today. You got this 20... you can do it... it’ll be easier than you imagine.

I know you're right, every run so far has ended well. Bring it on!

I completed my run 2 today too, I found the second 8 tough, I wanted to walk at the four minute mark but powered through to get it done. Bit annoyed my map my run app has paused the last 2 runs but think I’ve sorted it now.

The big one on Friday nervous about it going to slow it right down, feel if I can crack this one I can do them all

Well done ! I actually found W5R3 liberating – I just knew I was going to be running until the end and stopped thinking "this is long, is it supposed to be that long ?" On the whole I prefer continuous running for that reason, I find it easier to disconnect and stop fretting. You'll rock that run ! :)
