So, I am on Week 4 run 2but during week 3had to stop for a few days as family in hosp. I took a couple of days back and am now on week 4 but just can't seem to get my act together and continue. This is my big Block,my challenge. This 'block' is what always rears up and stops me ever finishing any thing, even beginning things. It's taken four years to actually start c25k. Hopefully now I've written this I can see it and JUST DO It Anyway.... Am working hard on the mental health side but it's soo difficult and don't want to leave too much Lo gear so have to run week three Again!!!! O dear.
Mental Block: So, I am on Week 4 run 2but during... - Couch to 5K
Mental Block
You can do this Kathyred, you’ve said that you never finish anything and its taken you 4 years to start c25k. Your bravery got you here on this forum now and sharing, so you sound pretty determined and want to carry on. Getting to week 4 must have been a huge mental challenge. Big breaths, take it step by step, how amazing are you? to get this far, be kinder to yourself. Post on here, its brilliant, uplifting and soooo funny sometimes and we all need lots of that.
Sorry to read this.
I can identify with being blocked by myself and one of the biggest benefits of having completed this programme was realising how much I hold myself back from things I want to do though fear or anxiety.
When you say you can’t get your act together and continue, do you mean you can’t complete the next run or you can’t start it?
I would try picking a day you think is likely to have the fewest other challenges and resolve to run then at a particular time and then just do it. No space for thinking about it or negotiating with yourself. Just do it. Running gear on, out the door.
Even if you don’t manage to run, walk it. But get back outside in the running gear and try.
You can do this if you let yourself. And you will experience huge mental health benefits if you do.
Good luck!
Hello Jay66UK. Thanks so much. Agreed... Just to get changed and leave the house! I've found the running part of it fine (but huff puffing!). Yes, I will mentally prepare, choose a day, choose a time and just go.
Thank you, again!
I found week 4 hard. So...I went back and repeated week 3 twice more. I started week 4 again this week and this time there’s no problem. Maybe alternate week 3 and 4 runs a couple of times to see you through this bit. You’ll be surprised how easy week 3 is if you go back. That might be the encouragement that you need. Good luck 😊
Awww brilliant!!! Yes think I will repeat a couple of threes again to get back into the swing of it all... There's no rush. Feel quite disappointed but I know once I get a couple more runs under my belt / back into rhythm then should be okay. Tha k you.
