Anyone feeling brave enough in or around Exeter?!

I’ve just graduated for the second time this week. I’m thinking about trying a Parkrun but not feeling brave enough yet!

I’m just wondering if there is anyone at a similar stage as me in the Exeter area that is also contemplating Parkrun.....maybe we could buddy up and spur each other on?!

Great idea to reach out to fund a buddy. You could also contact your local parkrun and let them know you would like to come but feel nervous about coming alone (you could even volunteer to break the ice!). Remember you can make friends with the tailwalker and stick with them (initially), they usually enjoy the company! All parkruns give a separate first timers briefing, so you will also see who else is new (and nervous). I hope you find a buddy, but consider going alone if you don't immediately find one. Smaller parkruns tend to feel more friendly in my experience. Good luck, have fun!

Thanks for the info. Now I know that they do a first timers briefing that’s good to know. I’m not really worried about the running. Just thought committing to a buddy would make me go and that I might help someone else do the same. ☺️

Aww I’m a bit far to be your buddy, but I would! I’m doing my 2nd parkrun tomorrow and can’t wait! I marshalled last weekend too, and both experiences were fabulous. People couldn’t have been friendlier. ❤️😀

Go and give it a try - either marshalling or running. It’s amazing and you’re virtually guaranteed to love it! 👍

You don’t need to be brave. It’s parkrun No bravura reqd. Just turn up and run. Don’t forget your bar code tho 😃👍

I think that reply was for vixiej! I love parkrun and I agree, it needed no bravery whatsoever! 👍😀

No need to be brave for parkrun. Most important register, print off your barcode and remember to take it. Listen to the first timers briefing and start near the back so you can run at your own pace . I did my first post grad so I walked five minutes as and did w9 R3 as normal , but if you’ve moved on to running further you can run from the start so long as you have already warmed up. You will find it very supportive and friendly. I’m hooked and go practically every week ( not in Exeter though). Some grads have gone along to watch one first just to see how it works or done a dummy run when no one is there, but you can do this. Think of it as a run not a race

Exeter Riverside and Killeen parkruns are both very friendly and will make you feel welcome, so no need for a buddy, if nobody comes forward.

Don't forget to register your club as NHS C25K.

Have a great time.
