Which way up ?

Can anyone give me any tips on a good posture for running ? I know everyone used to fall about laughing at how I ran at school, so I’d like to improve on it ! Do you lean forward, keep shoulders back, what ?

Shoulders back will help the breathing. Land feet under your body, not in front. Relax arms and hands. Dip at the finish line to shave a couple of hundredths off.

Forget that last one!

Malcolm Palk has a book "Master the Art of Running" that covers the basics. He's a big fan of the Alexander Technique, and so it is all about good posture. Shoulders open and relaxed, arms pumping forwards and backwards (not across your body), head held high. looking forwards (not at your feet).

Thanks for that - I’ll see if my friendly local librarian can get hold of that for me.

Sorry, my typo. The author is Malcolm Balk and Andrew Shields. And the full title is Master the Art of Running: Raising Your Performance with the Alexander Technique
