Week 4

Can’t believe I’ve made it to week 4. I’ve tried similar programmes to this before and never got neAr to this stage - I’m gobsmacked with how well it’s working!

As a quick update thought I’d let everyone know what apps I’m using that really improve the experience and allow better tracking.

Along with the C25K app, I’m using MapMyRun by Under Armour to track my routes and pace etc. You can also put pictures and text with every workout, and it’s useful if you go on a walk as well. There is a social element to the app but I don’t really use it. Would recommend to anyone who wants to see exactly how far they’ve run!

I’m currently listening to audiobooks. They allow me to have a more natural running rhythm so I’m not trying to keep up with music, and getting lost in the narrative makes those long running segments fly by! I’ve got good old HP downloaded and get through a chapter every run!

I usually wear my Nike air max trainers, which I know aren’t the best but I decided my graduation present would be some good running trainers. As it’s not rough terrain (I run on concrete paths) then they’re perfectly fine to run with! I’ve also got rid of the pesky blisters I had to start with from the shoes. I always wear longer socks now :|

I also bought a pair of cheap running trainers from an outdoors sale, they were literally 50p! They have undershorts built in which means I’ve not had any chafing problems so far.

As far as tops are concerned, I wear a sports bra, tbh any old one will do, and I have a running top also from the sale. I tried in regular t shirts but it is much more comfortable to run in one of these tops. I’d try Charity shops if you’re looking for something this cheap, or Lidl and Aldi also do similar stuff that my dad uses!

I hope this was helpful for anyone.. was a bit of a Drabble but oh well :) I haven’t really told many people about my running and don’t plan on it until I graduate, so this is my major running outlet! The support in here is really the reason I’ve carried on with the programme, so thanks a bunch! Off to week 4 run 2!

You’re doing great. Keep going.

Strangely your air max may be better suited to the uneven terrain more than gait analysis selected running shoes, which will suit the hard concrete paths! Depends on the support level.

Good thinking with the audio books... I’m deliberately keeping my music fast so I don’t try and keep up with it, yet. For my run tomorrow though I’ve slowed it down a little and think I have it right to run 20 minutes.

We won’t tell anybody you’re doing this, your secret is safe with us... your friends are in for a shock huh?
