I did my first day of Week 2 today. YAY me! And I've started to track a few things. No heart rate, distance, speed just yet – I don't wanna get too competitive. And I can't afford a Fit Bit. Here it goes:
Time: 11.45am
Goal: finish the first run of Week 2
Weather conditions: 18°, cloudy, windy (ran against wind for the first part of the run)
Track conditions: Chalkwell Beach sidepath, busy as hell, lots of Bank Holiday walkers – too many people to run in the moment
Physical before-mood: fairly energetic after good night's sleep, could still feel yoga work-out from day before in my bones
Physical after-mood: fairly drained and light-headed
Mental before-mood: generally upbeat mixed with 'grrrr' because boyfriend woke up in a grump and let it out on me
Mental after-mood: YAY! I did it! ...but still slightly grumpy – too many peeps on the track didn't help
hiya just done w2 day 1 too, I envy you running on the beach, I did week one with my daughters behind me encouraging me and sorting the tech - today I went on my own - had to hold the phone and it kept pausing in the walk bits, my earphones dropped out, i forgot to take my glasses off and carry them in my clothing and my hoodie knots kept opening -- felt like mayhem and looked like a mad woman -- but i finished it and feel so much better for it, i did the tech stuff on strava but sent it on to the children who understand that stuff -it clocked the run as 3.1 km - half through fields and a bit uphill and half on roads - and was bit surprised that my heart rate can go up to 170!!1 -I'm 59 .
my daughters did me a play list - it was very nice but no idea at all what i was listening to .. hope your next run is quieter - I m doing mine on wednesday pm and going to try doing it all on the roads
good luck and to everyone else - love that this app is around for us to use
That sounds like my very first run. I was struggling with exactly the same things: headphones falling off, phone in bra moving around and stopping the C25K app, glasses slipping down my nose... I invested in a (very cheap) pair of running headphones and an arm strap for the phone. Took some getting used to. And now a sweatband is holding my glasses up.
And well done you for doing this run. Did you find it hard? I certainly did at times but it was also so rewarding to find that I could do all (six?) runs on the first try. Definitely improving YAY us!!!
PS: How does the Strava app read your heart rate? Do you have a Strava watch or so? And does it run at the same time as the C25K app and music? That would be fab!
My first run involved me periodically pulling my leggings up, trying not to drop my phone, desperately needing the toilet. I had drank too much water before hand. But, well done for finishing. We're learning and the kinks will smooth out. Its important we keep going. Wireless headphones can help. I brought one from amazon but its not in stock anymore I found a vest with zipped pockets lying around the house so I didn't worry about my phone. A arm band or small bag might help. Good luck and keep going x p.s I second the beach envy.
Hello all, I also did W2R1 this morning. Got out at 7.20am to get it done before the area becomes alive. I ran on pavements in three laps that conveniently brings me back home at the end of the run.
I invested in a cheap bum bag which holds my phone and keys. I've ordered some cheap wireless headphones so I can listen to music during the run. For now, I have Jo Whiley shouting out at me lol!
I found the extra 30 seconds on each run a bit tiring but didn't stop. I did find that my shins hurt a bit so will try to look at some exercises to stretch them out a bit more. I'm tracking through fitbit and logged a distance of 2.04 miles at a rate of 4mph. Heart rate reached 158.
Well done all of you that went out today. My next run is Wednesday morning - hope to hear how you all get on with the next run x
Ah, we're all in the Week 2 club right now It's nice to hear from peeps who are at the same level. And well done, Rooster, for getting up that early on a Bank
Holiday. After today's experience I'll try that next time too.
