W4R3... am I going too fast?

I didn’t feel to out of breath (I’m asthmatic so some breathlessness is to be expected) at all, and I was just enjoying listening to some 00’s pop punk with Sarah Millican chiming in every now and then, and then when I took my phone out of my pocket to stop RunKeeper, it turned out that I hit 4.5k, by the end of week 4!

Will I naturally slow down when the runs are longer?

I recommend that you should run as slow as you need to. You should still be able to converse in clear ungasping sentences as you run, which defines the easy conversational pace that you should be running at, as described in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

This pace will be different for all runners, which is why no specific pace is demanded for C25K. If you are comfortable and can converse clearly, then that pace is fine, although you may need to pace yourself to complete the longer continuous runs in the following weeks.

How long is your circuit? Looks no more than a few hundred meters on the map above?! Don’t you get dizzy?!

Pace seems ok but you might want to slow it down as you get to the longer runs...

This isn’t my usual route, I’m currently up north seeing family and friends. I usually run a longer route around my local park, this is just a little over a kilometre each lap. It’s not quite as nice as my usual route!

If you can hold a conversation you’re not going too fast. If you’re running alone try counting to twenty out loud: if you can do that you’re OK. Will you slow down during the longer runs? Very probably: I certainly did, but my pace has picked up again post graduation as I am used to the distance now. I dare say if I went on to Bridge to 10k I’d find myself slowing down again to manage the longer distances.

Well you're going faster than me! I'm only averaging about 3km in my W4 "runs" and that includes the warm up and cooldowns. 😂

If it helps I’m including the warm up and cool down walks.
