Hints and tips
Wow congrats on giving up smoking after so long!!! The app takes things really easy and if I can do it ABSOLUTELY ANYBODY can! Ive just completed week 8 and lv it! Go for it, u can do it! X
I quit smoking after a similar amount of time the night before my first run on here.
Top tip in your current situation, don’t look at my lungs can’t do it because of the smoking... they can and they will!
Go slow, then slow down a bit... maybe a bit more. It’s all about running for a set time, distance doesn’t matter, neither does speed.
Sip water... couple of litres a day.
Don’t run after a heavy meal. Give it 4 hours. Some snacks before a run can help, but they need to be the right thing at the right time, google. Don’t need to worry about that just now.
Avoid running in heat... like that’s a problem in the UK now 😂😂
Trust the plan, believe in yourself, you can do this.
Hello and welcome. You'll get loads of advice, support and encouragement from the folks on here. I would suggest, in no particular order, get a gait analysis and good trainers, drink lots of water (especially on rest days), don't skip the rest days, and go slow then slower. Quitting smoking is the single best thing you can do (better even than c25k). Hopefully starting c25k will help you stay off the ciggies. Expect some down moments but carry on, it's so worth it.
Good luck, enjoy.
Hi and welcome. Well done on stopping smoking that can only be good!
The link below gives lots more info on c25k. If you look in the pinned posts there’s one called FAQ Posts which is full of good advice for the various stages. Best wishes and don’t forget to post on how it’s going.
Well done on stopping smoking , i know how hard that can be as i was a 40 a day smoker, a smoker for 40+ years before finally quiting ..
Starting C25K is next best thing to do...
The key is to run slowly so you complete each run as it comes , trust in the program , it works and believe in yourself ...
Good luck with all your runs, evetyone here is right with you ☺☺
Thank you, you are right, everyone is very supportive, I'm looking forward to getting started!
