8.30 am. 26°. Well that was hard! Week 5 run 1. Could have something to do with the heat. Or the fact that I didn't have anything before I went out except water. More likely the pizza I had last night and/or the few glasses of rosé - well I am on on holiday! Annnyway, I DID IT and now I feel good about myself. I do need to think about eating something beforehand though. Mashed banana on toast? Avocado on toast? I do also need to sort out my music - I really like to have upbeat stuff. Some of mine is way too slow and I find myself fiddling with my music during my recovery walks. My one favourite when I'm really flagging is Sun Goes Down by David Jordan. The beat makes me adjust my speed and I know I'm nearly there! Home tomorrow so a cooler run on Thursday - hope it's not too much of a shock to the system.

You’ll love the cooler weather! Some fuel before a run helps, light carbs an hour or two before.

I'm having visions of myself setting an alarm and waking up at 3:00am for a quick plate of spaghetti before my 5:00am run. Haha.

Also clearly demonstrating my nutritional ignorance, as I have no idea what a "light carb" is!

Well, light would be less than a plateful 😂 pasta takes cooking too. A banana would do the trick. White toast (I thought all toast was brown) and my personal fave as I get a chocolate taste, chocolate milk.

Believe it if not I do know of a guy who gets up at 4:30 to meditate, cooks after, eats at 6:30 and then does parkrun, the least competitive running event there is. Made me laugh, but he’s racing himself weekly.

That's the thing for me. I like to run first thing so to have something to eat before my run creates a small problem. I would need to get up soooo much earlier to eat half a slice of toast (brown) with some mashed banana. I'm going to try that half an hour before my run. I'll let you know how it works out if you like. 🙃

I just can"t run empty. The worst runs I've had have all been morning runs. For some reason after a day of food and lots of liquid I'm fine! I've tried a small snack bwfore morning runs but always feel like I'm running on empty 😁

I'm the opposite. I feel if I leave my run 'til later in the day I might be too full or I may not have enough energy. I like to get it out of the way so I feel good all day ☺️
