Hi there, I began the C25K program this morning and found it challenging! The first run is always the most challenging right? right?!

I’m on Wk3 and you are right. It’s marginal tho. Remember they all feel good when you’re finished.

I find the first run of each week challenging, because it is going into the unknown with a new time interval in which to run and not knowing when the voice prompts will appear. It really helps me to take that first run very slowly indeed, and then perhaps speed up a little in the other two if it goes well.

Thanks for the tip - I think I definitely need to slow down a bit!

I’m about to start week 4. It does challenge you but is very rewarding 😁. I’m loving it. Follow the programme and you’ll be fine . Good luck

It was for me. You've just got to believe in yourself and let us know how you do.

Good luck🍀☺️👍

Well done! I needed two attempts to complete the first run. I definitely ran too fast on my first attempt! Nice and slow is definitely a good thing.

I think each time you make a jump (couch to 1 minute, 1 minute to 90 seconds, 90 seconds to 3 minutes) it's a shock for the first run, but usually feels a bit easier for the 2nd and 3rd run.

Right! That first 60 seconds you have no idea how fast you can go. Either you didn’t get out of breath or the other end you felt like it was gonna kill you. I was on about the sixth one and wanting to shoot myself before I found my pace... run two easier. Week 2, gonna be a challenge but you have some idea of a pace.

You beat that challenge though, so go you, be proud of the achievement and use that to push when you need to. While you find your running legs the mind makes a huge difference in my opinion.

Right!!

Yes, I found W1R1 the hardest. You're doing it now so welcome to the club!

Yes I remember by first run when I was nearly dead after 1 minute lol! Now I only have 2 runs left until graduation so keep going and believe me you will succeed!!

I was surprised by how "easy" I found week 1 run 1 on the treadmill. Then for runs 2 and 3 I went out on the road. I was almost ready to collapse by the end of w1r3. I don't think it helps I was going uphill for part of the way and my trainers are a cheap pair I just bought before I thought I was ever going to run in them.

Despite all that, I'm really looking forward to w2r1 on Monday. Who'd've thought running would give you such a good feeling - apart from all those people who've been doing it for years and knew already. :D

Right!! Whether we are newbies or graduates, we’ve all been there. Keep listening to your coach and try to focus on one run at a time. There’s no need to worry about pace, except to try your best to go slow and if you think your slow, see if you can get slower! You’re building your running legs on each run and trust that everything you need will come exactly when you need it. The programme really does work and you can do it!! ❤️
