Failed W7R2

Just been out for my run and I had to stop after 16 minutes because I just didn’t have anything left to give. I was running at my usual pace but my legs just felt like dead weights after about 5 minutes. Has anyone else had a day like this?

I think every runner gets days when things just aren’t right. It’s not a failure as such, it’s part of the process. This is a short programme and sometimes the body needs just a little more rest to heal and build. At top level they spend months working out how to peak on the right day... we cannot peak every other day for 9 weeks. Take it on the chin, rest and go again, you’ll be just fine.

Oh yes W7r1! But don’t give up. Take a rest day and give it another go you can do it!

No shame at all. Today wasn’t your day, next time most probably will be. Maybe try going slower than slow next time?

Above all, keep on keeping it fun! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️😀🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Certainly not a fail – making it to week 7 you're doing really well. It could have been a number of things – dehydration, the cooler weather encouraging you to go a bit faster than you intended. Do your stretches, take it easy today, drink lots of water and go again in the next few days. And remember the mantra - slow and steady. You can always speed up towards the end if you're feeling strong but if you go off too fast it makes it harder.

No not a fail remember what you were like in week one look how far you have come, I too am on week 7 and find the first 5 minutes the hardest just take it slow and well done for getting this far

Hi jan jan you haven’t failed you have just gained more running experience. I have just got back from week7 run 2 myself and it seemed much harder than 7/1 wasn’t sure if I was running or brisk walking in the end. I wished for rain and that came and went now blustery wind to contend with. I’m sure you will be fine next time you’ve done it before just have another go and don’t put too much pressure on yourself just look at what you have achieved already. you can do it👍

We all have good and bad runs. There are still times I have to have a walk.

The main thing is you're doing it .

It could be you went off too fast, the weather any number of factors.

Could you run 16 mins without stopping 8 weeks ago?

It's not a fail! You got to week 7!! You're a runner now! I've had that run. Next one was fine. Drink lots of water, run slowly! Avoid the heat if it comes back! Slow and steady, good music in your ears. You'll be fine! 😃😃
