Hello everyone,

Well, we have reached the last week of July, and despite the humidity and sunshine we are still out doing our runs, fitting them in when we can. We have a nice long list for this month already, with quite a few completing and Graduating.

Still the hot weather continues in the UK, and schools are breaking up for the summer holidays. Maybe your older children would enjoy running with you... or riding their bikes or scooters...

We need to take care of ourselves in the heat. Wear a cap, suncream, sunglasses and keep fully hydrated at all times...

Welcome to the fourh week in July of β€œWhat is your week?”

So- the idea of, "What is your Week?”.

Every week I am going to put up a post, so you can add in a little post underneath, to say what week you are planning to do this week.

Sample post (feel free to put as much or as little as you like):

β€œHi, I'm Bluebirdrunner and this week, I am doing the milestone Week 6 runs. Feeling a little nervous, any tips folks? β€œ

We are growing so much at the moment and we wanted to have a little fun post ,so we can see who is on what week of the programme, and hopefully it will help everyone to feel more included on the forum.

Please remember it doesn't matter if you stay on the same week for a while, that is fine; it is a journey and it really doesn't matter how long it takes, it will be so worth it when you get to the final run.

If you have just graduated, this will also be a great place to keep you motivated, there is always the Quest on the Bridge to 10k forum as well, for Graduates.

I will add all the names from this week under this post. Then every week for the month of July the names will roll over into another post. Anyone can join in at any time.

Let's get a good list going so we can support each other throughout the month, and get another four weeks of running miles in our legs!

Hi BBr from β€œβ€˜er indoors” in the Antipodes, have had to postpone juju’s plan (week 5) 😒 due to the horrible weather, but am managing 2 runs a week and exercise dvds on rest days. Spring - bring it on! 😎

Hope it improves for you soon, but you are doing fine getting two runs in and doing an exercise DVD inbetween!😊

Hi Bluebirdrunner! I'm doing consolidation runs this week, after a week off to allow bits and pieces a break. Interesting experience! I was glad to be back out there in my kit yesterday morning and slay some demons. I'm swimming on repair days, and hopefully out with my buddy on Tuesday and Thursday and Park run on Saturday.

Congratulations on Graduating 🌟 (I think I missed saying this βœ‹πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘)

Your plans for this week are brilliant, swimming sounds so refreshing, but is also great all round exercise isn't it.

You had your week off for R and R, so now can start to build those running legs with some nice steady runs...and Parkrun too!

Well done for starting c25k Seh, you can trust the program, it really works and you will be able to do it!

Every run that you do builds up your stamina towards the next session...while its not easy, it is doable.

Take the run intervals nice and steady, don't worry to much about your breathing and being puffed out, try to recover a little during the walk break and go again. Your breathing will becone easier as you progress through the program.

Good luck, and its fine to repeat any run session if you need to, this is your journey and one I think you will enjoy!

It was fine thanks! Managed to complete the first 4 intervals, struggled on 5 and 6 and pushed through 7. Gonna do yoga tomorrow on my rest day!

Hi all, I’ve just completed Week 4 run 2 - finding that I’m definitely covering a greater total distance this week; the last five minutes is now all done up hill whereas that was previously my cool down walk!!

This morning I nearly gave up on the last 5 as it was so muggy and I was melting up the hill - just thought β€œit’s fine - I’ll try again another time”, but then gave myself a serious talking to and carried on up anyway - by that time I had the 1 minute left warning and was euphoric when the time was up! It was early enough that no one saw me dripping in sweat with steamed up glasses anyway...

Do others run in glasses? Do you fog up? What do you do about it? I find i fog up more the slower I go which is a shame!

I have to run in my glasses or I wouldn't be able to see the road. They only steam up though when I stop outside my door to do my stretches. I suspect if I kept moving they'd stay clear......

Week 9 for me and having had a little blip where I was getting a bit down because I'm slow and only around the 4K mark, I'm back on track this week with thinking this doesn't matter and celebrating that I'm running for 30 minutes! Love reading everyone's post and fine the forum inspiringπŸ˜€

You are dong Fab Manxmezzo... 30 minutes of runnng is a great acheivement. You will get quicker as you get stronger...

In these temperatures too...speed is not an option! :)

Hi there, I’m starting week 5 and frankly I’m terrified!!!! 😳 but then again I have been most weeks and I’ve managed to complete, even if I’ve had to repeat a couple. Getting back on track with ju-ju- 's Bridge to 10K (the JJ210K!) after a diversion to complete my local Mid Kent 5 miler to get back in the habit of registering and then running events - something I need to keep me on track.

I am doing week 1, completed the 2.5k and 5k - planning to do the 5.5k and then move on to week 2 before this last week of July is over.

Should register for a 10k soon!

Hi. I’m still here in week 9, but am not pushing myself to finish just yet. When I started, the aim was more about getting my daughter to exercise more, through encouragement and doing it together. The fact that I can actually now run 30 minutes is an accidental and surprising by-product of that plan! Due to one thing and another, she’s on week 6, so I sometimes β€˜go back’ and do one of her runs with her. The heat has made it difficult to find a good time, but we’ll get there in the end. Slow and steady, isn’t that our mantra? 🐒

I’ve just finished week 1, I’m thinking of repeating it as I didn’t manage to complete the end of each run. I’m enjoying it so far though and I have lost 7lb in total from healthier eating and exercise πŸ˜€ x

Started W7 tonight. After my lovely W6R3, I wondered if the running gremlins would sneak out to bite me today, but all went well despite the humidity. A cloud of small flying beasties decided their mission was to supply me with in-run protein. Fortunately I saw them in time to cover mouth with hand!

Well that's week 7 done. I changed venue and running surface for the first time - 6 circuits of the local sports field - and I pushed on to 28 minutes to see what it felt like. It was just 12% more of the same! Onwards to week 8 with no surprises.

Morning!

Week 7 run1 for me - it was raining which was nice but still hot and humid. I ran in my local park this am which is fine but very hilly and means I go round the flat bits a lot!!! Mind you I can now run up the steep hill once and I couldn’t do it at all when I started - downhill slope now!!!

Week9 for me 2 runs to go, I run early to beat the heat. Excited to be here as I did not think I could run, will consolidate by doing 30 min runs as I don’t run 5k in that time.

Most of us didn't make 5k in 30 minutes, but many of us can run 5k now....

Hello, I graduated about a month ago and I am happy to continue on w9 for now, trying to increase my pace if I can. I am a treadmill runner but want to conquer outside if my hayfever will let me, also taking my 12 year old with me, she was doing C25K in school so we are starting on W3 today, this run will be in addition to my other 3 runs......hopefully

I did it!

Graduation run this morning, set off in the lovely cool at 5.30, but forgot that the low sun gets in my eyes when going round my favourite lake. Note to self - invest in baseball cap)

But I felt so good to finish, that I did a little dance on my balcony for any neighbours to see! Not that many others are up at 6.30 in the morning.......!

A baseball cap or sunglasses is a great idea. The latest new tip is a running buff soaked in cold water and worn around the neck or wrist...lovely and cooling ! 😊x

I'm just starting week 3 which I was dreading but I did run 1 this morning first time out on my own and actually completed it couldn't stop smiling . Planned my route thinking I would be on the flat for first run but ended up on an hill not a good start but I kept positive and kept telling myself just go for it

Week 7 run 2 but I've hit a problem. I was fine with running for 20 mins but weirdly the jump to 25 mins this week is causing problems. My breathing is fine but when I get to the last 5 mins my right calf and foot cramps up . Been absolutely fine up to this point. Not sure what to do tomorrow- go back to 20 mins - plough on or just give it a miss for a few days. Any advice ??

If it was me, I think I would have an extra day or so rest, then go again at the 25 mins. you may be just getting cramp from lack of hydration in this very hot weather, or I used to get numb feet because my running shoes weren't roomy enough..

Don't worry though, you will get there, nice steady slow running will help.

Hi, I've just finished W4R1, can't believe I actually ran for 5 minutes without stopping! I'm sore all over but esp my legs, they felt so heavy at the end. However It felt good when I finished.

Im starting week 8 on Monday, I would go tomorrow, but I went over on my ankle yesterday so I'm having an extra rest day. I'm also thinking of changing the route so I pound pavement instead of going through the woods.

Just found this, I have started the journey the first week of my holiday and now I am on week 2 run 1 completed. As a working mom of one, I never found time for myself, well last week I decided to do something for me and hopefully will stick to it and become a graduate like yourself. I’ve notice that it’s the small steps that counts, I’m planning to stick like glue to the programme and reach the virtual podium.
