Big 20 minuets tomorrow : Hi can anyone give me... - Couch to 5K
Big 20 minuets tomorrow
What I did for this run was just slow it down and enjoy it. Find some good tunes to jam to also helps. Have fun you’re gonna rock it
Do I need to take water as it get in the why holding it
I drink a lot of water in general, but I don't think this is long enough or intense enough to warrant carrying a water bottle. You know yourself best, though.
Take it slow, make sure you plan your route to avoid hills if they're not on your usual run, and hydrate well all the day before and that morning. And enjoy it!
This might not work for everyone mandy but I did this run by running 5mins and turning around 4 times because it gave me a visible target to aim for and broke up the monotony of my first long run. It isn’t actually as bad as you think it might be as your body had been prepared for it. Have fun 🏃♀️👏
Slow and steady all the way!! You can do it !
Take it very slow and you'll be fine and avoid hills if you can.
I like Dexy5's idea of turning around, that makes sense, I did mine running laps of a field, which gave a similar target to aim for.
Hi Mandy, you’ll be totally fine with 20 minutes. It’s a lovely run actually. Just set off at a lovely relaxed pace, enjoy your tunes and don’t be tempted to go too fast. Any discomfort, slow right down. Watch the snails rushing past you. If you stay slow and steady you’ll be done before you realise it, and you’ll feel epic!
Have fun and good luck! 😀😀😀
1. You can totally do this! It doesn't FEEL like it right now, but you really can. Please don't psych yourself out. You can.
2. Here is my tip, the thing that has helped me most:
Check in with yourself.
"I can't. I can't do this. I'm not going to make it."
Then I check through all the things that are making me feel like I can't:
Am I struggling to breathe?
Are my legs hurting?
Are my feet hurting?
Do I just not feel like it?
Is it too hot (or someday, too cold!)?
Am I embarrassed or self-conscious about being seen, red-faced and sweaty?
So I run through those and answer really honestly. Like, if my legs are hurting-- is it an unbearable pain that means injury....or is it more Um, yeah, you're exerting yourself and using muscles. They "hurt". More like are being used. Haha. (Luckily I have never had an injury.)
If it's breathing--which as a person with exercise-induced asthma it almost always was especially in the early weeks-- can I slow down? Can I breathe differently or better?
Usually it's just that I don't want to or feel like I can't. I talk myself through it. Basically: suck it up. You can. You are. You're doing it!
You need to be brutally radically honest with yourself in the check-ins. If you truly truly feel you are in danger (it's 95+ degrees out and you're panting and feel lightheaded) for the love of god stop and go drink water and go on to run another day!
You'll know if you're telling yourself the truth or if it's just the classic I Don't Want To or I Don't Think I Can.
Spoiler alert: You Can!
3. My other tip is the ever obvious Slow down. It's true, it works.
4. My last tip: It's all about the podcasts or audiobooks for me.
Can’t believe I’ve gone and done so please with my self bring on week 6
It is at the end I did not want to stop but I did
