week 7: speed bump

Well this is the week that has held me back. been almost enjoying my run nights until now. Dont know if its the monotony of it being 4 x 25 min runs in a row...managed run 1, which was no easier than w6r3, then after a 4 day break due to a cut on sole of big toe on friday needing to heal, failed fir the first time ever to complete a run.

Soles of feet hurt like hell on warm up walk, hip and shin joined in the protest at the 5 min mark and when Sarah told me i had 12.5 mins in the bag i just knew i wasnt goimg to make it. stoped at 15 for a 5 min cool down before completing 10 more minutes.

Today felt different. automated running and breathing at the half way mark and finished the run with an 8.3km average. i guess that means ive still not finished week seven though :(

Hi Lucyfur sorry you had a bad run :-( Remember it's not a fail it's a practise run!

I think it's for you to make a judgement call as to whether you completed week 7. I had a similar experience on run 3 of that week where I tried to go up a massive (think Everest 😂) hill at the end of the run and ended up walking up it. Technically I didn't complete that run but as I had done it comfortably three times anyway I moved on. During my first 30 min run I had to stop and walk twice and I did decide that was worth a repeat.

Good Luck with whatever you decide to do x

thanks. i think as none of week 7 can be desribed as "comfortable" im going to do one more 25min run before the 28...amd heyho i knew i would have to repeat at some point.

Sounds like maybe you went back a little too soon after your sore foot? No lasting harm done as you managed it a couple of days later. Similar thing happened to me in week 8, had to rest sore knees and went back just a little too soon and had to stop. Managed the run two days later, just as you did, and went on from there. So I graduated a few days later than planned but that doesn’t matter.
