W9R2 - amazed at myself!

So I'm a bit of a lurker on here but enjoy reading the posts for support, I wanted to share where I'm at. I'm astounded that I actually ran 5k today... Not in the 30 mins (that's a long way off!) but in just under 42 mins.. I'm so happy that I've achieved this, I know I was only meant to do 30 mins, but the last few long runs I've done a few minutes extra as I've felt able to.. For someone with a dodgy ankle which meant I never thought i could run I'm amazed and so pleased with where I'm at now! It's taken me since start of April to get here (had longer breaks between runs because of work, holidays, etc) but with 1 run to go I can't wait to graduate and hopefully turn this running thing into a habit :)

Well done you!! I did mine on my first consolidation run , when I only intended to run for 30 mins but felt so good I carried on and did it in 40:11 mins. I’ve not shaved much off that since, only down to 37:42. But I only graduated end of May and I’m on the IC at the moment. Looking forward to getting back to it.

Good luck with your graduation run

Thanks for the support everyone! I'm so chuffed, before I started this journey at the beginning of April I'd never ran in my life (asthma as a child, unfit, broke my ankle 11 years ago)), but now I'm approaching 40 (gulp) I feel like I have to sort my fitness out and this was recommended to me. I don't know how it works but it's amazing that it does! I've even started dropping a few pounds, which is a bonus (I could do with losing some anyway).. It's making me consider my food choices, and how I dont want to spoil my hard work by eating rubbish. Im conscious of turning into a running bore with my friends, but sod it, the endorphins make me do it!! I am, however, sat here with a well deserved beer after work that I've been wanting since I finished my run - cheers everyone!! Jules
