Hello and welcome 👋

You’ll find all sorts in here Nicole, some people try to lay off the bad stuff, others might try SlimmingWorld and then there’s me, who knows full well that after running this afternoon I shouldn’t go home from work at 3am and have a beer, but I probably will. 😎🍺

Can I suggest that if one of your aims is to loose weight before you start C25k you take some measurements of the areas you would like to see change in. What I and a lot of other people seem to have found is that you don’t loose weight when you start this program, some people have even put weight on, but you will tone up, especially calves and thighs, so taking measurements will help you see that you are making progress even if the scales don’t agree.

I started c25k at 18 stone, I’m now 17:6, but as already mentioned, I like beer. (And also, I’m not doing any rest day exercise, so I’m certainly not blaming c25k ) but I have lost 2 1/2 inch off my waist and chest.

Don’t get too hung up on weight, speed or distance, just focus on doing the runs as they come up, do the best you can and trust the program. Once you graduate all the rest will fall into place.

Hi and welcome to the running . I've lost five stone all of it was hard work. The first two stone was all doing the 5/2 diet which I used to swear by but then I discovered Slimming world and lost the last three stone. I'm now at my target weight and still go to the classes on a regular basis to help maintain the weight loss.

Good luck with your journey X

I haven't really done anything food wise and the weight is coming off. I have about four stone to lose. Since I started to do the longer runs it's started to shift. I've lost 10lbs so far (just graduated)

Welcome to the club 😁. I do a low carb diet but I’d suggest weight watchers which although you have to pay for I’ve found are really good result wise.

You will find that loosing weight is something like 80% diet 20% exercise ( forgive me others if that ratio is off feel free to correct that if it’s wrong).

If your trying to loose weight running alone won’t be the answer but an aid to your goal. You will however feel amazing completing each weekly challenges for your body and posture will change shape as you progress .

Stick at it and you’ll get the results your after. I’d suggest swimming on your rest days as it’s not load bearing and helps your muscles aches and pains wise👍.

All the best!. We’re here to help ❤️

I’m looking to lose weight too but taking one thing at a time and cutting things out slowly ((like the chocolate I have all too often)! I’m on week three and find as I’m successful at each run, I’m more motivated to eat healthier. No weight off yet but I’m putting faith in small changes 😎

This is not a weight loss programme...but it will help.

Linked with a great healthy eating regime... ( and just the right time for that :) ... you will feel fitter and stronger.

I’ve calorie counted for the past few weeks and I’m slowly losing weight - about 4kg/9lbs since I started late March. I need to eat better and drink less!

I started slimming world 4 days before starting c25k. I have a lot of weight to lose and know that the exercise motivates the slimming which in turn motivates the running. I need to do them side by side.

When I did c25k last year I didn’t diet so no weight loss but I did see/feel changes to my shape.

Good luck

I did weight watchers alongside c25k and I shifted a lot of weight. Running didn't do that but running toned my body and developed muscles I didn't know I had. My body shape is the best it's ever been because of c25k!

Focus on Protein and aim to stay in a calorie deficit every day

Running is for fitness diet is for weight

I’ve lost 4 stone in 12months and gone from no exercise to running 3 5km runs a week and often plan and do a 10km run on a weekend

If you’re serious you will do it but I warn you it’s a long hard road

Cut as much dairy as you can tbh

Milk is made to make calf’s put on weight very quickly it’s not made for us to drink, Almond milk is my choice, In my breakfast I save 87kcal per day swapping cow for almond milk or 1280kcal per fortnight

Small changes make big difference

Use my fitness pal to track yourself and get out and enjoy the plan but slow and steady and fitted trainers are a must

I'm not following a plan, just significantly reducing the amount of calories I consume. No snacks/sweets/treats, no drinking during the week, wholegrain cereal for brekky, salad for lunch and a normal but healthy dinner. No desserts, no milk or sugar in drinks and having smaller portions. I still have occasional takeaways and bacon sarnies though 😉

It took a whole to figure out what worked best for me but I'm currently dropping just over 1kg/week. 13kg down so far, 27kg to go....

I started loosing weight then discovered C25K. I am doing Weight Watchers on line which is easy to follow. I have just completed week 2 but repeated week one as I was finding it so hard. On the days I plan to run I eat a little more at lunch just to give me bit of an energy boost. Good luck with a change in diet and the exercise you will soon start to feel good I know I have more energy and get up and go now. I set myself a goal of loosing 3.5 stone I'v lost 16lb in 12 weeks which I feel is an achievement and I still enjoy a drink on the WW plan so dont feel as if I am punishing myself. I cook most of the things I did before but have substited some of the ingridents or reduced the portions. I'm 55 and havent done any exercise in years.
