After lovely outing with some new friends on Sunday, I was back on track today. I know I am on week seven, but I’m a little fuzzy on if I am run one or run two.
Despite my general reluctance to get out of bed at 5:30 AM, and my brain trying to sidetrack me with many necessary chores (feed the cats, start some laundry, etc), decided to commit to run one. I figure any extra running I do will be a bonus round!
I set off at 6 AM on a totally gorgeous morning. I ran on my usual route, and then crossed the busy road (my legs loved the official reprieve as I waited for traffic to clear) and went a ways down the trail we used on Sunday. I generally cover about 2 miles each run. I want to get comfortable running 3+ miles before I tackle the 5K in August. (I learned with training horses that you should be comfortable in training at a notch higher than what you will face in competition.)
Today, I didn’t cover any more distance than usual, but I did get to tackle some lovely little hills and I ran for the straight 25 minutes. Yippee! Since the hills set my heart and lungs to clamoring, I am resolved to get out walking on my off days and do some hill work. Easy enough to do in my town. You can’t throw a stone and not hit a hill!
I love reading all of your posts! When my legs were begging to go back to sleep first thing this morning, I reminded them that you lot have all been up for hours and were having lunch. 😁
