Thought I’d get an accurate run time today, 30 mins 3.6k, this is going to take a long time for me to get anywhere near 5k in 30 🙈.
At this rate should I be working on going faster for 30 mins or gradually adding to time to get nearer 5k? My pace must be really slow 😬🐌 Any advice appreciated xx

Thanks for the tip on tagging pianoteacher ! It seems to work on my iPad (using the browser not the app), even if it’s not working for anyone else. I’d been wondering how people were tagging. 😃❤️
I won't worry too much about your pace, C25k is more about being able to run for 30 minutes than 5k in 30 minutes (which is a pretty arbitrary goal) so from only running for 1 minute 9 weeks ago you've made so much progress and should be proud of yourself.
I'd keep 2 runs a week at 30 minutes and have one slightly longer run (33, 36, 39 minutes etc) until you actually reach the distance of 5k.
There are plenty of people on this forum that take over 40 minutes to cover 5km and very few people that actually hit 5k in 30, some people just aren't physically capable of it due to various factors (age, weight, pre-existing health conditions).
That’s what Jay and Hoagy said to my previous post, after this run I was really worried my pace wasn’t going to be fast enough and thought I should have been going faster 🙈 that’s great advice and encouragement thank you, since graduation I think I’ve lost my confidence a bit now I’m not following the programme 😘😘xxx
Please don't lose your confidence Lola - you don't need to go faster! You can do whatever you want with your running.
Jay set a goal for himself to go to 5k post graduation but I'm pretty sure he didn't increase his pace to do that. He very sensibly added just a little bit of time to one of his runs each week until he got there x
Lots of great advice already. Just for my added tuppence worth - gradually up the distance by increasing time if you want to, as others have suggested, but really don’t worry about pace. You’re running for 30mins, and that’s amazing! Who cares how far you go. You’re moving forwards, which beats people sitting on the couch any day, and that’s all that matters. ❤️❤️
I’m in that “just graduated” period with you too, and finishing the programme makes many of us feel a bit lost. Try not to let it knock your confidence too much. We just need to muddle through for a bit, then I’m sure we’ll all get a better idea of where we each want to head, and what our next goals are. I’m planning to try out the C25k+ podcasts while I’m consolidating too, to bring back a bit more structure.
Thank you, I hadn’t even thought about pace until I graduated and then started doubting myself, this forum is great to ask advice and talk to people in similar situations and people who have been through it, your right I had lost sight of the fact that I was running for 30 mins I’m now going to start focusing on the positive and making small goals for myself.
Good luck to you on this journey too, happy running 🏃🏻♀️ xx
