About to enter W7!

I am surprised and shocked that I have made it this far! With 60lbs to lose I am still managing a slow run and completed week 6 this week. Super pleased with myself and I hope to begin to speed up over the summer after completing the last two weeks. I am set myself a goal of a nine minute mile by the end of summer, currently doing 12 and a half min miles.

Any tips on speeding up. I like to run but cannot keep it up and run slowly to manage the 25min runs.

I don’t have any advice, but lots of congrats on your progress! I’m at the same stage, so will happily read all the tips you get. 😁

For now, slow is the way to go. You only need to complete three 30 minute runs in the final week, so speed doesn’t come into it. Later you might want to increase your speed.

Enjoy W7 - you know you can make it now you’ve done the long run of W6. Take it steady.

Forget speed or distance... you are doing brilliantly! Just carry on with that.... well done you!

Work on speed once you have finished the programme; slow and steady is definitely best for new runner legs! And safest. Rome was not built in a day, and neither are runners! You are doing grand. x
