I have been running Parkruns the last 9 weeks and have got slower as the temperature has gone up. Is this a coincidence or does the heat make it more difficult to maintain one's usual times?

Running in the heatwave
The heat hits you on the day of the Parkrun but also hits you during the day(s) and night(s) before the run. Makes it harder to be properly hydrated and rested.
Its hotter than hot isn't it?
I feel I am at risk of being able to personally demonstrate an act of spontaneous human combustion at any moment in recent runs!
Another few weeks and we'll be commenting on how its too cold to run though! 😊😊
For many folk, it is almost certainly having an effect. Let's face it.. we do tend to really slow down in many ways, when hit with the temperatures we are getting in the UK currently!

Also, check out the post from Realfoodieclub on hydration....very important!
many thanks
I've wimped out and given up running in the heat - although I do take long-ish walks. I gave blood last week, too, and that has also had an effect.
I will have to make an effort to get back into it when the weather breaks.
Your heart and lungs have to work harder in the heat to keep your skin cool and your blood oxygenated, making it very difficult to run as fast as you would in cooler conditions.
I made it to from the couch to week 7 run 2 but the heat is killing me. I’m dialing it back a bit while it’s this hot.
