On 22nd April I was starting week 3 and thinking of the London marathon runners in the heat, and the journey ahead of me as a runner. This evening, 22nd June, I've done my 6km/3.7 miles for Matt. First time beyond 5km and not the easiest run - a headwind and the fact that I was asleep half an hour before I started running didn't help.
So I kept saying to myself "it's not about the speed, it's about the distance" (in contrast to my previous run which became all about the speed when I knocked a minute off my 5km time despite thinking slow thoughts - still don't know how that happened) - and I've done it. And actually, in metronome pace at the pace I would have targeted if I thought I had any control over it. Moral of that story: stop fretting about doing it right, it'll come good in the end.
Lovely evening, pleasant temperature, good light, great views - sea, marsh, mountains on three sides, curlews, buttercups. #SpiritofCumbria
