Days off
You can basically do any exercise apart from running. It’s the impact of running that you are resting from.
Walking is absolutely fine. You might also want to try some core exercises as they are really good to help running. 😀
Thanks just didn’t want to get hurt and ruin what I’ve started
I know! I think it’s most people’s biggest worry. I’m sure Ian has posted about this. It will be in the pinned posts somewhere.
I can see you’ve just finished wk2.
Here’s a couple of things you can do to help avoid injury - check out your running style and make sure your technique is ok. For example your feet should land underneath you and not in front. Also make sure your footwear is good if you haven’t already. And as I mentioned a strong core actually helps you to run.
Since starting the program I’ve gone through learning all about these things in a proper nerdy runner fashion! 🏃🏼♂️🤓
I walk most days even on run days & I think that’s fine. I’ve always been a walker (better than the tube in London) & added the C25K to the walking. I do the NHS strength & Flex on rest days - really like that. 🙂
Your plan sounds really good to me, walking will help aching muscles. I like it that you are allowing yourself days of complete rest too. Your body needs complete rest.
I walk on rest days (about 25 minutes) + going to the shops + school pick up etc. I like to do 1 spin class a week too, but it depends on how much energy I have left. But I always have at least 1 sit on my bum day! I call it embracing my inner couch potato.
The guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... explains about exercise on your rest days, which will make you a better runner.
