Went out yesterday to do my first post grad run ...All enthusiastic ..Me and laura with no rules ..Off I go round the loch ...Nearly finished my 30 min run ...And stupidly seen a woman in front of me with a great pace ...So I thought I wonder if I can do that pace ...So I quickened my step ...Big mistake ..Huge mistake ..I'm now on the IC ..Out of pure stupidity ...I must have landed on my right leg awkwardly as I made the bigger stride ...So gutted with myself ...I knew to be a snail ..I just wanted to see what like the woman's pace was ..But it wasn't wise ...Take care everyone and don't do what I did 😒😒

I hope you recover quickly Myrar. It was during my run 2 of week 7 that I was running that a lady passed me as well, I thought to myself 'I know she is going faster but lets try for a couple of seconds to go at the same pace' well I did manage it was about 30 seconds, no more, I reckon that her pace was probably about 25 minute 5k pace and no way could I keep up with that, so I went back to my about 40 minute 5k pace, perhaps a little quicker than that. Later on during that R2W7 run I realised that someone else was about to pass me, I slowed down a little to let this person pass, this time it was a man, again I said ' lets try and keep up with him' strangely enough this time he wasn't going as fast as the lady and I did manage to keep up at his pace for the last 5 minutes of my run. I do agree that it's not always a wise thing to do as in your case but it's very tempting and sometimes OK in certain circumstances. In all my runs, I have not passed any runner, unlike when I cycle, I pass more cyclists than pass me.

Thanks almorr ..i feel stupid for doing it ..But your made me feel better knowing that other people have done this ...It prob would have no ill effects on most ..but i just put my stride just too far and caused damage ...All graduated too and cant run ..typical story for me ...i have certainly came down with a bump ..i will be back at it as soon as i heal ...Thank you for sharing 😊

Oh gosh... just run for you..because you are a runner... :)

You have done wonderfully...you have a great location to run in , and nothing to prove.

" Comparison is the thief of joy"

Be joyful... be yourself :) You are doing just fine:)

PS

Take time to recover and then head out gently... we are both on the IC, so we can keep each other company... did I ever tell you that we snails totally rock :)

Lol ...Rock we shall ...I'm sorry oldfloss because your mantra wasn't followed that day ..If I had heeded your advice I wouldn't be on the IC ...It won't happen a second time ..And thank you πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

Aaah......Myrar that's understandable! After graduation, the challenge is probably more self directed. So sorry to hear about your injury. I hope you'll be feeling better and back out on the run very soon! ❀️

Oh no I’m so sorry to hear that. Be gentle with yourself & make sure you are really recovered before you go out again. As Oldfloss always says - running will always be here for you. Get well soon.

Oh no what a bummer 😟 don't be so hard on yourself, hopefully nothing serious and you'll be back to it

Loving Old Floss' quote "comparison is the thief of joy" will have to remind myself of that.

Thank you ..Yes it's another great mantra from oldfloss. ...She's always wise ...I will remind myself of both those mantras often 😊

Sorry to hear that Myrar, it’s such a shame when you were only trying to find out what it was like at that pace 😒

Part of the reason I don’t want to run with others at the moment is I know I’d do the same thing! 😊

Hope you feel better soon🀞. Take care of yourself and come back steadily and carefully. πŸ™‚

Oh no, you mean once we graduate we're still going to feel addicted? I thought I was addicted to the vast improvement. Is it so addictive I'll have to do it in the winter?

What is IC?

Hope you get better soon.
