Went out yesterday to do my first post grad run ...All enthusiastic ..Me and laura with no rules ..Off I go round the loch ...Nearly finished my 30 min run ...And stupidly seen a woman in front of me with a great pace ...So I thought I wonder if I can do that pace ...So I quickened my step ...Big mistake ..Huge mistake ..I'm now on the IC ..Out of pure stupidity ...I must have landed on my right leg awkwardly as I made the bigger stride ...So gutted with myself ...I knew to be a snail ..I just wanted to see what like the woman's pace was ..But it wasn't wise ...Take care everyone and don't do what I did π’π’
1st post grad run ..Bad idea: Went out yesterday... - Couch to 5K
1st post grad run ..Bad idea
Oh dear! Hope it's better soon. Running round the loch sounds lovely!
Oh no! I hope your leg feels better soon! Xx
Been there. Feel your pain. But donβt get disheartened x
I hope you recover quickly Myrar. It was during my run 2 of week 7 that I was running that a lady passed me as well, I thought to myself 'I know she is going faster but lets try for a couple of seconds to go at the same pace' well I did manage it was about 30 seconds, no more, I reckon that her pace was probably about 25 minute 5k pace and no way could I keep up with that, so I went back to my about 40 minute 5k pace, perhaps a little quicker than that. Later on during that R2W7 run I realised that someone else was about to pass me, I slowed down a little to let this person pass, this time it was a man, again I said ' lets try and keep up with him' strangely enough this time he wasn't going as fast as the lady and I did manage to keep up at his pace for the last 5 minutes of my run. I do agree that it's not always a wise thing to do as in your case but it's very tempting and sometimes OK in certain circumstances. In all my runs, I have not passed any runner, unlike when I cycle, I pass more cyclists than pass me.
Thanks almorr ..i feel stupid for doing it ..But your made me feel better knowing that other people have done this ...It prob would have no ill effects on most ..but i just put my stride just too far and caused damage ...All graduated too and cant run ..typical story for me ...i have certainly came down with a bump ..i will be back at it as soon as i heal ...Thank you for sharing π
Oh gosh... just run for you..because you are a runner...
You have done wonderfully...you have a great location to run in , and nothing to prove.
" Comparison is the thief of joy"
Be joyful... be yourself You are doing just fine
PS
Take time to recover and then head out gently... we are both on the IC, so we can keep each other company... did I ever tell you that we snails totally rock
Lol ...Rock we shall ...I'm sorry oldfloss because your mantra wasn't followed that day ..If I had heeded your advice I wouldn't be on the IC ...It won't happen a second time ..And thank you ππ
Aaah......Myrar that's understandable! After graduation, the challenge is probably more self directed. So sorry to hear about your injury. I hope you'll be feeling better and back out on the run very soon! β€οΈ
Oh no Iβm so sorry to hear that. Be gentle with yourself & make sure you are really recovered before you go out again. As Oldfloss always says - running will always be here for you. Get well soon.
Oh no what a bummer π don't be so hard on yourself, hopefully nothing serious and you'll be back to it
Loving Old Floss' quote "comparison is the thief of joy" will have to remind myself of that.
So sorry to hear the news. π take time to heal up. The road/trail will be waiting for you.
Noooooo! π±π± Hope it's nothing too serious and you can get back to it soon. π€
Thank you saartjie ...Think it's just a sprain π’
Ouch! Keep us posted how the recovery goes. Sending virtual hugs.
Sorry to hear that Myrar, itβs such a shame when you were only trying to find out what it was like at that pace π’
Part of the reason I donβt want to run with others at the moment is I know Iβd do the same thing! π
Hope you feel better soonπ€. Take care of yourself and come back steadily and carefully. π
Hey Myrar, I wish you a speedy recovery.
I do hope you get back out there asap.
Best wishes.x
Oh no, you mean once we graduate we're still going to feel addicted? I thought I was addicted to the vast improvement. Is it so addictive I'll have to do it in the winter?
What is IC?
Hope you get better soon.
Aw no! Gutted for you. Hope itβs not to serious βΉοΈ
