Summer running continues to be a warm challenge folks but we can do it. In the heat of summer, remember to plan carefully and hydrate well at all times.
So, welcome all to the third week in June of “What is your week?”
Whats’s the idea of, "What is your Week?”.
Well every week I am going to put up a post, so you can add in a little post underneath, to say what week you are planning to do this week.
Sample post (feel free to put as much or as little as you like):
“Hi, I'm Millsie-J and this week, I am doing the milestone Week 6 runs. Feeling a little nervous, any tips folks? “
We are growing so much at the moment and we wanted to have a little fun post ,so we can see who is on what week of the programme, and hopefully it will help everyone to feel more included on the forum.
Please remember it doesn't matter if you stay on the same week for a while, that is fine; it is a journey and it really doesn't matter how long it takes, it will be so worth it when you get to the final run.
If you have just graduated, this will also be a great place to keep you motivated, there is always the Quest on the Bridge to 10k forum as well, for Graduates.
I will add all the names from this week under this post. Then every week for the month of June the names will roll over into another post. Anyone can join in at any time.
Let's get a good list going so we can support each other throughout the month, and get another month of running miles in our legs!
(Come on you lurkers, we would love you to come join us too)!
Happy running everyone🏃🏽♀️🏃🏻🌞

Hi I’m limberlou ( a name left over from my gymnastic coaching days).
I’m on week 2 of jujus 10k plan but did manage a sneaky 10 k on Saturday morning. I am still going to follow the plan as I want to build up my strength and stamina as I know I won’t do 10k everyday ( and have no wish to!!). I like to run every other day usually so either 3 or 4 times a week but this week is a bit different as I’m taking an extra rest day after my 10k, I have a minor op on my left upper arm tomorrow morning and I’m not sure about my usual Saturday morning run yet. It’s my 65th birthday then and I have people coming over after lunch for a get together so I’ll see how it goes.
This will be my least planned week since I started running again.
Hello! I'm re-doing W6R3 today and hopefully I'll move on to W7 on Wednesday if this one goes well. I'm running on a treadmill in a very warm attic with a fan pointed at me. 😊
I did it! Woo hoo! I was so slow that when Laura said I could stop running, I didn't even need to adjust the speed on the treadmill... I just started walking!
Hey. I’m doing my final two consolidation runs this week, the longest being a 40 min run which won’t quite get me to 5k at my pace. Aiming to get to 5k next week. Enjoy your runs.
Fingers crossed for the final two consolidation runs, Jay (is there a plan for this somewhere, or are you just planning it out yourself?)! And good luck with the 5K next week!
It’s based on the comments when I asked how best to approach the post grad phase. 3x 30 is the standard consolidation and I’m just slightly pushing it to try to get to 5k in a structured way, observing the 10% rule.
My medium term aim is regularly do a 30 min, a 20 min then a 5k (possibly Parkrun). And when that is comfortable, do Bridge to 10k 😱
This week I'm mostly hoping to get off the naughty step after running a 5K for the first time at the weekend and breaking the 10% rule completely.
I only did a 25-minute consolidation run this morning as I was worried about getting in for an early call at work. I've got several more of those this week so i'm not quite sure how I'm going to fit in the running, but I will find a way! I'm away this weekend, so am looking forward to running somewhere new.
Hello, I've got W6R3 tomorrow then on to Week 7... Gonna see how the next 2 go but i'm considering joining parkrun for W7R2 - has anyone else joined before they graduated? A little worried I might get carried away and exhaust / injure myself by trying to run the whole thing!
I joined park run before I graduated. On my first one I listened to the podcast and followed it ie running and walking. Register and see how it goes. It’s great fun and everyone is very very supportive 😁
You won’t our park Run ages range from 11 to 83, I kid you not. I wasn’t last but not far off it 😂. All shapes and sizes too, it’s great fun, go on, you know you want to 😁😁😁
I tried Parkrun twice before I started C25k and it was the shock of not being able to run more than a couple of minutes at a time that made me join this programme. I don't intend to try Parkrun until I graduate, but only because it will interfere with my training. 39.50 to beat for a PB.
Yes! I’ve been doing Park run since week 2 - when I power walked it. I do my run 3 of the week including the walk (so I start at the back) and once that has finished I walk/jog the rest depending on how I feel. I then have a 2-day rest from running before starting the next week runs I absolutely love the atmosphere and have already met lots of people. Even when I was being lapped by the fast guys they would say ‘well done’ and ‘keep going’. Also starting at the back you end up overtaking lots of people that started too fast, which reinforces the ‘slow and steady’ mantra on here 😁 and feels satisfying.
My next run tomorrow is W8R1 😁. I did a park Run on Saturday and managed to run the whole 5k in 39 minutes! So pleased with myself. Mind you I was very tired when I got home. I did my W7R3 this morning and got through it very well. Will carry on with C25K including the Park Runs as well. Only 6 more runs to graduation now. My hubby is absolutely amazed, but very proud of me 😁😁😁
Hello. I'm hoping to do W7R3 & W8R1 this week. Not sure I'll get a 3rd run due to heavy commitments this weekend & I'm already stressed by that! Had a bit of a dip after the high of week 5/6 so hoping to get my mojo back soon 😞
Did W8R2 very early this morning, and hope to get W8R3 done on Wednesday. Not quite sure after that, as away with friends hillwalking over the weekend. Will try to squeeze W9R1 in on Friday before we leave, but may save it until Monday if I can’t.
Today was the first time I managed to get a GPS app running on my phone while doing just the run bit. The apps I’ve looked at do seem to quote slightly differing distances and speed, but I’ve gone with RunMaster, as I like the look of it (even if it seems less generous on mileage!) It gave me 4.73km for today’s 28 min run, which should let me hit exactly 5.0km if I can keep the same pace going for 30mins in W9!! I know this challenge isn’t about distance, but I still like the idea of hitting the 5k mark if I can. I’m a bit gutted that Laura only tells me when I’ve got 5 mins to go now, though, not 1min. I feel deprived of my sprint finish, as I can’t attempt to sprint for 5 mins!!
I did W5R2 this morning in the high humidity and rising temps. It was my second time outside, and my first time solo! The run went great, and to all of you who are self-conscious about running outside, no worries! All of the construction workers in their pick-up trucks definitely watched me snailing by in my bright yellow safety tank top. but I did get several thumbs up! My consolation is that ordinarily, I would be tucked up in bed I’ll large mug of tea in my hand. Now, the new me is shuffling about town in eight minutes sets of running. Me! Running! I love it.
That’s such a change in attitude now from people when they see runners. I used to dread even walking down the street - and I worked in construction! Mind you that was 30 years ago and I’ve aged a bit 🤣
Completed week 5 run 3 on the weekend, really pleased to get that run under my belt though feeling a bit of muscle tightness in back of calf / knee area so will be taking 2 days rest before tackling week 6 run 1. Onwards and upwards though!
Hello. Lurker here. I'm starting week 5 tomorrow. Found wk 4r3 really hard then realised afterwards that I'd gone two minutes per mile faster than I had been doing. 🤦
I’ve just left the IC after straining my soleus muscle (back of knee to heel). So I’m building my running back up again 3 times a week. On off days I do some exercises to strengthen my legs and my Pilates classes. My sports physio has been great and an hour of professional advice and support has been well worth the cost.
I can now confess that I love running , having had no interest at all before. I’m working my way back to my graduation distance of 4k this week and will get back to consolidation with the aim of reaching 5k.
When I started this journey I didn’t think I’d ever reach 5k, I now think it’s just a matter of time. Parkrun is not an option this weekend with a family wedding, but I’ll be back.
Hey there all! Just back from W6R1 and the 8 minute bit in the middle was a little tough- as many here have mentioned - but we recorded 2.6 miles, including the walky bits. It’s a humid evening but my breathing is improving during the running - sounding less like an asthmatic rhino pounding along the tarmac. Last interval session is on Thursday - very exciting!
Hi from Germany! Yesterday I did my W7R1! I was really nervous before the run ... but it went OK. But I'm scared of having only long runs from now on!
Yesterday it was very hot and I was struggling a little bit during minutes 16-20 (maybe because of a little pain in my knees!? (I still have panic to get problems with my knees again, therefore I had repeated some weeks of C25K several times) ... my heart rate was ok, but breathing was a little bit heavier and I thought that I would have needed water during the run (but I don't want to take a bottle with me! because of extra weight!) Do you take water with you?
You are right to take care of those knees, never run through pain. Better to get it looked at early on!
When it is very warm I take a little water with me, in case. Otherwise on short runs I dont take water. I always have some in the car ready for my finish though!
hello, I've been lurking for a few weeks now. I just completed week 7 run3, but was using the app for the first time and messed up when to start so ended up running for 30 minutes instead of 25. agh!
It was very slow but I feel like I'm starting to enjoy this now. Looking forward to next run on Saturday. Would it mess up progress if I carried on running for 30 minutes? I might just see how I feel...
Hi! I’ve just run Week 3, Run 2, so will start next week with W3R3.
My aim is to achieve 3 runs a week- it’s hard to juggle childcare/work pressures and still have the energy to function.
I’d like advice on how to manage, if anybody has any? I have to leave the house, with kids, before 8am, so I’ve considered a 6am run before and never managed it- I need my sleep!!
By the time the kids are in bed, it’s after 8pm and that’s before I’ve prepped any dinner. I need an extra hour in the day!
Heya Fifie. What part of Fife are you from? I’m an East Neuker 😁. Both my wife and I are both on this and we either do a run early morning run or one after work while the other does dinner/ bed / dressing and breakfast ect. Tag team style. I guess if your a single parent I’m not sure if you are it’s going to be tough fitting it in .😕
Thanks for the reply- I’m not from Fife- it’s a play on my name.
I’m not a single parent, although sometimes I bloody feel like it! I think I’ll have to have a chat with the husband and get him on board. My aim is to get him starting C25K too- then we can take it in turns.
My other issue is a tight IT Band and tender TFL muscle, caused by years of pronation (now supposedly corrected by moulded orthotics). Think a few visits to the osteopath are in order.
A tight what ? Tender TFL ?? orthotics??? Your definitely not from Fife 😁 that’s some new language right there I’m not Clued up on.
My wife started the C25K weeks before I did. She got me doing week one through sheer nagging and by week 3 she’d bought me running shoes and a pair of running shorts 😳.
Then I thought “bloody hell im going to have to carry on doing this. Then she graduated and it became “god if I don’t complete this I’ll never hear the end of it cause im a big Jessie and couldn’t do what she did”. So it became game on then 😂
Now I’m almost done and actually enjoying it now🤔. Big up to her for that but I’m still a bit begrudging that I was manipulated into that as only a wife can do😁 (in a good mannered sporting way you understand).
So get him on board and tell him that he should try it cause you can do it surely he could do it to...... he will hate me for this. But in the long run he will thank you for it. 👍
I’m running W6R3 tomorrow (eek) then planning W7R1 Thurs and W7R2 on Saturday after a Friday night shift.
Never thought I’d want to run but I’m totally in love with it!
Especially never thought I would be out running after a night shift! I sleep first then get up and run and it actually makes me feel so much better than just getting up and slobbing around the house!
I absolutely love this group. So much advice and support xxx
Hey, I'm Kerry and I'm just back from my last week 4 run. Had a shitty day, and needed to get rid of some frustration with it. Absolutely smashed the run, and feeling much better for it! I'm not worrying about fitting all the runs in each week, my knees wouldn't take it, so just plodding through at my own pace. Week 5 next, and feeling twitchy about the infamous wk5r3!! Xx
