First 5K race done

Can't say that was easy; it was the hardest physical thing I've ever done and had to walk the final hill climb of what was a 5.4K Colne Gala route but chuffed that I managed to complete it. Did feel slightly nauseated over the final 100m and never really got into a comfortable pace due to terrain and obstacles but it has opened up a window to a whole new way of running and is immeasurably more interesting than my usual 12.5 laps around a running track. Plus I've made some new contacts and running opportunities. Am considering now which weekly parkrun to add to my weekly runs. Not got my time yet but am estimating under 38 mins which I will take any day when I remember struggling 3 months ago to run for 1 minute on W1R1. Thanks for all the advice it all helped in keeping everything together especially through the toughest parts. Still trying to figure out though why I'm now enjoying running when it can be so unpleasant 😁

Well done! It is enjoyable isn’t it! Especially that lovely feeling when you achieve something that you would have thought impossible just a few months ago!
