Surprised myself

I made it to week 2 run three and then fell ill, it was because of illness that I started this as I wasn’t allowing it to define who I am, but the last few weeks I’ve been so run down and exhausted with medication changes and coming of beta blockers. It ended up I didn’t run for around 2 weeks.

My neighbour wanted to do it so I said we should do it together and I said I would start from week one again. So went for my first run on Monday and wow I was shocked, I wasn’t out of breath, every run felt easy and that I could carry on, I ran further in my time and afterwards didn’t even feel like I had been for a run. I know they say your body adapts but that completely shocked me. I expected to be hanging over fences unable to breathe!

Will running help me lose inches, I seem unable to lose weight because of my medication but have noticed thinner legs and sides yet weight is the same if not more.

You lose very little condition in two weeks.

I guess the weight loss question depends on a lot of things. But for sure inches will be lost if you’ve got from couch to this. I found I lost an initial amount of excess weight, then seemed to stay the same for about 3 weeks whilst still seemingly looking leaner. I’m guess muscle was just replacing some fat.

That’s what I thought, I’ve been on a weight loss journey, down two stone then got diagnosed with an illness put on meds and put 4lb back on and for the love of me I cannot get it off, calorie counting, running and workouts on other days just isn’t shifting it, I’m resolute to the fact it’s not going anywhere whilst I’m on this medication, but if I can turn fat to muscle then that’s better than anything the scale can tell me.

Fabulous Evertonchick!! Good on you for getting out there and smashing it too! I had the same with weight loss, or I should say weight increase. Put me off for a nano second, but I soon got that scale in check and promised myself that I’d stick to my long standing tradition and just give it the evils on passing in the future! It’s all about how you feel and I too have noticed a slimmer body! You have every reason to feel great. You’re a runner! ❤️❤️

Hey Evertonchick

I am on week 4 run 3 and I think my body shape is changing. I’m not sure about weight as I didn’t check what I was before, but I have also changed my diet and portion size which I think has a lot to do with it.

I did this last year until week 5 run 3 and then I cracked my rib. So this is me starting back. I didn’t feel I lost any weight last time, although I did feel healthier and less out of breath walking up hills etc.

Also I have been changing the speed I’m running at e.g jogging then when I come to a lamppost I will run faster till I get to the next lamppost, then slow down again. I have been told this helps you lose weight better🤷🏼‍♀️ so I’m giving it a bash😂

Hey Battleborn,

Well done on starting again, sounds like your doing great,

I’m currently on 1500 calories a day, excruciating plenty but alas it won’t budge, stupid medications.

I will definitely try that method, not many lampposts where I run but I can improvise lol 😂 x
