So this was the big one. Put my trust in Sarah, but was still not 100percent convinced her faith in me was justified. Set off, straight into a tree branch, but continued doggedly on at a "Shufflejog" pace. As usual first 3 mins were the worst as i wondered how i would complete. Had settled in a bit when Sarah announced 5 mins were done, then was shown up as a snail by a small boy and a dog lapping past me like lightening.
Into the wood now...hurrah the coolness is helping...manage this time not to get lost or disturb any cached couples or delinquent youths.
10mins gone..halfway as i emerge into the sunshine round the lake...overtake a pram and an old man with walking stick...problem ahead though...a hill...ok back through the wood, round the other lake and up the marginally less hilly slope it is..
Minute 15..whooo i am going up an incline ...only the small park to lap now..that plus Tom Petty telling me we are learning to fly without wings, means we might just do this after all. And sarah says 2 mins..oh this is going to be fine..lets finish under those trees..and then when Sarah says stop, i even know i had a couple of mins left in me. I did not believe that was possible 5 weeks ago. Thanks for the encouagemebt so far and to those in earlier weeks: this really works!
