Running to the beat

Did the Stepping Stone run this morning. Never run to the beat in quite such a conscious way. 150 felt fast, then 155 and then a final 160! I really couldn't keep up..... But I did the best i could and was thinking that I must at least be running faster than normal and that I knew that my challenge was to get that run under my belt over the next few weeks. Only to get home and find that I'd gone slower than I usually do!! So then i wondered if I could do the whole of C25K (again) using a timed audio playlist and getting faster as I went along - and started making complicated plans.

And then I thought - why on earth don't you just go out and enjoy the fact that you're running?

I think you’re final thoughts were right. Just get out there and enjoy the joy of running. 😀

Ha! This is exactly how I felt! I also thought I was going too fast but ended up with a slower time. For me I need to start off slower then can speed up after about 5 mins. Starting too fast makes me more tired. I shall be repeating week 9 of the app and listening to podcasts once again! I find it much easier 😊😊

Oh weird, I did this podcast this morning too and I thought it was ridiculously slow! My 5k time is 40mins, I really am a snail, but this podcast was even slower than my slowest time, the first run was more like a brisk walk for me. Including the warm up but not the cool down I did 3.8km in 38 minutes (I have tiny legs). All that being said I actually enjoyed it because I was relaxed and taking it easy and could have held a conversation throughout.

Totally agree though, just go out and enjoy the fact you’re out there doing your thing 😊👍

These c25k+ podcasts are great training tools. Starting slow is a good thing to learn and Laura gives good running technique instructions too..

Try them all, mixed in with runs with your own music and just enjoy the variation.

Happy running 😊 x
