Bad back

Hi, I have experienced a bad back over the last few days which has stopped me from running. Has any body else got a bad back and can only think that their training has caused it? It has been the lower part of my back and towards my shoulder blades causing shortness of breath at times.

Check out the NHS website, they have some good advice on stretches for both back and legs to help you achieve C25K. Hope you’re not suffering too much!

Thanks.... I think that I'm over the worst of it now. Hope that I don't struggle too much with my next run. I've heard that your fitness drops so quickly if you are not running regularly?

If it's in your lower back then it might be kidney rather than back problems (they feel much the same). Make sure you're not losing weight too fast and are drinking plenty.

Thank you ...will definitely look at my drinking as I am probably not drinking enough.

I am on Week8 run 1 about to do run2 tomorrow... I am not losing weight...maybe I'm not fast enough yet to shift my weight? I was hoping to lose weight, slim down my thighs and tone them up. How long does this take before I will see a difference?

This little bit of running we do will tone your thighs but will not shift your weight. Exercise has quite a small impact on weight, regulating your intake is the most effective way.

Have a look at this, put in your numbers then aim for the bottom of the scale they give you for calorie intake. Do not go under it.

Because I'm so big my target is 2350 calories which is a lot. But I've lost 26 kg in a year.
