How on earth do I go from two 8 minute runs today, to a 20 minute run on Monday, is it even possible ??

I found my first run this week was canny, but today was a bit of a struggle towards the end so I'm wondering how I'm gonna do 20 MINUTES LOL !!

Hi MKE - I completed W5R1 today and although I promised myself I wouldn't freak out when I got to week 5 - I can't help thinking the same - and I've still got R2 to do first - haha!

Hiya TrickyRuns, I was dreading week 5 anyway not realising that each run is different....I just feel it's a massive leap from 8 minutes to 20 lol !!

I made the mistake of looking ahead - haha! Let me know how you get on- I'm planning to do R2 on Monday so I should be on R3 on Wed/Thu (might give myself an extra rest day in preparation!)

Just have faith that the designers of this programme want you to succeed and the run is here because you are ready for it. Your mental state is the key thing for the longer runs. Go very slowly - speed can come later - and if you aren’t injured or certifiably dead, keep running. Enjoy it, it’s a milestone.

Something you will learn for this one and the next long one...you can actually go much slower than you are already. Hard to believe, but it’s true.

You will be fine provided you go in believing it is possible. Then it’s just putting one foot in front of the other until the end. Enjoy!

hmm. If I tell you it's not that big a leap, you might not feel so intimidated, but perhaps it will take away from your sense of achievement for when you smash it :) ...

Basically, look at the total time running, after all, you don't run only 8 minutes in run 2, you run that twice. And then the total time overall (because ... if you can walk without expending energy, do let us know your secret ;) ) ...

Yup wk5 run 3 scary shit or what lol .. don't sweat it .. you can do it .. as you are finding out the program and running is as much a mental program to..

As others have said take it slow, break it down to 5 minute chunks .. do anything you need to mentally to see you through

You will do it .. we all did and had the see nerves and fright too .. good luvk not that you need it 😊😊

Absolutely you can do it! Put your favourite music on and just run, don't clock watch, the app will keep you up to date on your progress πŸ‘πŸ»

Go slow. Really slow. Have good music to listen to and have it loud! And go slow!

Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for your words of encouragement.

Today was the dreaded w5 r3.........had my music sorted...ELO....quite long songs so I reckoned on 5-6 songs for the run....off I went......you've reached 5 minutes.....canny keep going.....you've reached 10 minutes.....HAVE I REALLY ??......music stopped but I didn't want to stop to sort it out.....now all is quiet......I kept going.....and going....and going....blimey, when's she gonna tell me I'm done and I can walk ???? I stopped and looked......the app had only gone and stopped and I'd ran for nearly 25 blooming minutes WOW I ACTUALLY DID IT AND MORE AND DIDN'T REALISE LOL !!!!! How good do I feel.....I definitely believe in the programme now !!
