So out I go at 6 this morning planning a 20 min run as I have a busy day ahead. After 15 mins I was actually feeling quite good so thought I would keep going for the full 30 mins. 42 minutes later I reach 5k πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

I have wanted to be able to run 5k for over 10 years after struggling to walk round Race for Life, when the friends I had gone with happily left me behind to jog all the way round. I felt so miserable and deflated on that day.

But today I feel elated. Around 8 weeks ago I struggled to run 3 minutes! I cannot stress enough how brilliant C25K is. Yes it’s tough but to anyone who is struggling I would urge you to stick with it. Then you will get to feel as happy as I do today πŸ˜€

Thanks. And funnily enough they are no longer β€˜friends’ πŸ™‚

I think I need to work on speed next, and then maybe look at 10k 😲. No rush though, consolidation is my plan for now πŸ™‚

I’ve signed up for Ju-Ju’s 10K plan starting in a couple of weeks. 😬

I completed Week 1 Run 2 yesterday and the end looks very far away but posts like this are a real inspiration. Thank you and well done :)

I remember being inspired by others when I was in week 1, seems weird to be inspiring someone myself! But thank you. And keep at it, slow and steady is really the best approach. You’ll be at week 9 before you know it πŸ™‚

It's amazing how quickly the week's tick by, you can do it. As everyone says, slow and steady, and you will crack it. Enjoy πŸ™‚

That's some commitment running at 6am! Congratulations on running a) longer than you planned and b) achieving the 5k milestone.

Thank you. I always walk out the door yawning but love it once I get going. I’ve tried a few evening runs but I get too hot and it’s too busy. Not many people about at 6am πŸ™‚

Well done! Isn’t it amazing that only few weeks back we were dreading those 3/5/8 min runs and now we feel good after 5/10 min run and want to run more πŸ˜€

In my W8 now so hoping to do 5K some day.

All the best with your consolidation runs and beyond!

Congratulations! Sounds like we’d be evenly paced running partners - i just did the same thing - 5k in exactly the same time : 42 mins!
