Hi there, this is my first post - I have type1diabetes and I’ve just completed week 6 run 3. I’m running at just above snails pace and I have been genuinely looking forward to and completing each progressive run...until that is, today’s. It just doesn’t feel that enjoyable! I even felt mildly depressed after today’s outing - am I expecting too much? Or is this ringing any bells for anyone else? I think it might have been Peter Ustinov who said - whenever I feel like exercise I lie down until the feeling wears off... is he into something??!!
Not that enjoyable...: Hi there, this is my... - Couch to 5K
Not that enjoyable...

Not every run can be a good one. We do sometimes expect a lot from a run but for various reasons don't always get what we're after.
Sounds like there might be other things on your mind maybe or even just the usual gremlins missing the sofa trying to bring you back into line.
Find the things you liked on the next one, scenery or wildlife or people or your music or just getting it completed.
No, I think exercise is an important part of a healthy and happy life. 👍🌻😉
I think we fall into one of two camps...happy whilst we are running or happy when we can stop 🤣
I know nothing about type 1 diabetes..but my ex has type 2..I know how much he benefitsfrom keeping fit...maybe you will feel happy about the sense of achievement? I've just finished week 5. Enjoyable isn't the first word that comes to me..bloody minded and bonkers ..that would some up my journey.. 🤣
Thank you! I think you’re right about the two camps! Also turns out I had a low blood sugar at the end of my run - which explains the low mood...need to fine tune this bit I think...
You have a whole extra dimension to consider that I don't....no wonder you weren't enjoying it! You are a hero🌟
U forget at times other folk dealing with all types of medical conditions out there, I think ur doin brill for even starting this. Ps - I had my first crap run last week & it did put me off a bit but next one always better.

Everyone has a few runs like that. Its fine.
And as for snails pace, that is quicker than no pace. The fact that you have got to W3 means maybe you 'are onto something'

As a diabetic, blood sugar and hydration are going to be even more important than they are for every other runner. There is info on hydration in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Not everyone gets the running buzz, but running, at a sensibly sustainable, easy conversational pace makes it much more enjoyable for most people.
