Hi all. Finished w8 on Friday - I actually CANNOT believe that I've done so well...and stuck to it! I'm around 5 stone overweight....and manage...but with my last week fast approaching - no way I will get 5K in there. According to mapmyrun...I run at around 12.4 min per mile. I suppose once wk9 is done, it's a case of speeding up a bit?

Meh.... Who wants to go fast anyway! Not me, it's all about getting out there and doing it my way.

I can go fast downhill though 😀😀😀😀😀

If you’re running at 12.4 minutes a mile then you’re not too far off running 5k in 30 mins? Maybe once you graduate see if you can carry on for a few extra minutes (you’ll definitely be able to do it in under 40) to get the 5k, or just run the 30 minutes and get gradually faster, it’s up to you!

Good luck :D x

Thank you. Sometimes I run at 13 m....depends... I find that going after work, I'm slower....and after work in the heat....oooooft! I'll get there 😘

Yeah, speed doesn’t matter anyways 😄 but yeah, the more you run for 30 minutes you’ll probably just find your speed increases naturally. Maybe not anything noticeable to you but you might notice you’ve run the further than you ever have done down a particular path or whatever.

If you really wanna do the 5k then just run those few extra minutes, there won’t be many left, or just do the 30 minutes and be happy you can do that 😄

Tell me about it, I did my first run after work yesterday (I’m only on week 2 but know I can run for 10-15 minutes on a treadmill) and it definitely felt different than going out first thing in the morning

Well done for finishing week 8 😄 I graduated two weeks ago and still couldn’t run 5k in 30 minutes even if I was being chased by a grizzly bear 🐻 😁

Thank you, good to know

Not really.. you just go on, in your own way, and see where the running takes you...but..it does make you leaner, keener.. ( not meaner... :)) and stronger too.

Very well done indeed...now just cruise your way slowly and gently to the podium.. we will all be waiting:)

Around 90% of graduates do not complete 5k in thirty minutes at graduation. Many never do.

The aim of the plan is stated at getting you to run for thirty minutes, three times in a week. You are well on target.

Work on your time for 5k after you finish. I’ve run 5k four times now after graduating and nearest I got was 33mins. Can’t imagine at the mo shaving much time off that! You’re doing brilliantly to graduate!

Well done! Don’t worry about the distance. That will come. Good luck with the final few runs.

just focus on running for 30 minutes and enjoy the run- how much distance you cover in that time doesn't matter. You'll be on the podium soon :-)
