Couch to 5k

So ive decided to embark on this journey, underestimating how hard it is. I'm on my second week now completed run 1 this morning and finding it extremely hard. Any recommendations to keep me going would be much appreciated? :)

SLOW DOWN

you need to find a pace that is sustainable rather than running at a pace that means it is too hard- other wise you will get fed up and give up thinking 'there, I knew I was no good at running' Have you looked at the guide to C25K under the pinned posts. Very helpful

Go slow. Then slower if you have to. It works !

What Helen said. Slow down. Also look at what’s on your feet. I’m just at the end if Week 4 and of the four weeks week 1 was the hardest. Partly I went too fast and partly I had totally rubbish footwear. Finally forget 5k: this programme is about building up to being able to run for 30 minutes. If your speed is such that you don’t cover 5k in that time you’re in good company as most people are not that fast after nine weeks.

Thank you, I think I'm so eager to do well and complete this that I most likely am running to fast!!

So many people on here can't be lying! If they say it's going to get easier, I believe them and that's what keeps me going. Support at home helps a lot too. I'm looking forward to looking back and seeing how far iv come in a few weeks time. Stay positive! 😊

Read the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... which will give you many tips.

The main thing is to run at an easy conversational pace, at which you can carry out a clear ungasping conversation. This is sustainable.......if you are gasping, it is not.
